UPDATE | Mortal Kombat X Cup South African Qualifiers - Competitors

Registrations for the Who's Next, Mortal Kombat X SA qualifiers opened just a few days ago, and e-fighters are gathering in every region for the chance to be crowned South Africa's best MKX player.


  • Ster Kinekor Entertainment confirmed that competitors and spectators will receive an automated e-mail to confirm their registration. You can drop us a comment if you've not yet received the confirmation e-mail, and we will notify SKE.
  • Registrations for the Western Cape qualifiers are now closed as we reached the maximum of 64 entries yesterday. Well done!

Entries so far

  • Gauteng Province - 50 entries
  • KwaZulu-Natal - 20 entries
  • Western Cape Province - 50 entries

Prizes worthy of MKX

The winner won't just have bragging rights, he or she will also win a PlayStation 4 Anniversary Edition, R15 000 and a chance to take part in the world championship in France. 

  • First Place: R15 000 & PlayStation 4 Anniversary Edition
  • Second Place: R10 000 & Branded PlayStation 4 console
  • Third Place: R5 000

The winners will also win goodie bags filled with sexy Mortal Kombat X merchandise. Those who attend the different qualifiers as spectators also stand the chance to win goodie bags. The Western Cape spectator slots are almost filled, so you better hurry if you want to attend!

SA Qualifier Details

In case you missed it, here are the details of the regional qualifiers. Remember, PlayStation 4 is the weapon of choice for the entire competition.

  • Gauteng Qualifiers - 9th and 30th May 2015 / Internet Solutions in Bryanston
  • KwaZulu-Natal Qualifiers - 16th May 2015 / Location to be confirmed
  • Western Cape Qualifiers - 23th May 2015 / MCave in Cape Town

The South African finals will take place on 6th June 2015 in Johannesburg. According to Ster Kinekor Entertainment, South Africa's host for the Mortal Kombat X Cup, everyone who registered will receive an email confirmation during this week. Local celebrities will also attend some of the events, so you can expect a day filled with gaming and lots of hype.

Mortal Kombat X will release worldwide on April 14 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Remember that the limited Kollector’s Edition is available for pre-order in South Africa, see here for more details.
