MWEB GameZone's Ghosts Master Series Johannesburg LAN Details

This weekend sees the kickoff of the MWEB GameZone Master Series Johannesburg LAN, where we will have 16 teams battling it out against one another over a two day event.

Today we will be covering some of the need to know information for the teams and players that plan on joining us on the 19th and 20th of July. So without further delay, lets get into the MWEB MGMS Johannesburg LAN for 2014.

Fixtures 

There will be two sets of play for the MGMS JHB LAN, the first day, Saturday 19th of July, of play will comprise of the group stages as well as the beginning of the knock out phase, where as the second day, Sunday 20th of July, will close on the semi finals and finals of the competition. The fixtures below represent the fist day of play where teams are required to be at the venue at 8:30am. The top 2 teams from each group will progress to the double elimination bracket.

*Please note these are guide line times and actual times may change according to make the event run as smooth and fast as possible. 

Double Elimination Bracket - Day 1 

The double elimination bracket will run from 14:15 - 19:00 on the 19th of July (Saturday).  

Double Elimination Bracket - Day 2

Day 2 will consist of the semi finals and finals. Day two will allow play from 10am to 2:00pm. 

All teams that are knocked out in the tournament will not be required to clear their area, this means that players can keep using the facility to play scrims against one another. We ask that teams do not interfere with those still in the competition. This also applies to Saturday and Sunday where teams will be allowed to use the venue to play against one another, 

Team and Player Requirements 

Teams and players will be required to bring their own equipment to the venue, this includes: 

  • Monitor
  • Xbox 360 
  • Headset
  • Controller
  • Call of Duty: Ghost copy
  • Optional: LAN cable (this isn't required but would be appreciated if players brought their own) 

Food and Drink 

Bottled water and Fruitina slushies will be available at the venue, there is also a cafeteria that is open on the premises till 2pm on Saturday. Alternatively, there are shops located near to the venue. Please note the cafeteria will not be open on Sunday.

Prizes

Prizes up for grabs include R10 000 in Kalahari vouchers and exclusive, sought-after Red Bull merchandise. 

  • First place: R5 000 (4 x R1250 Kalahari vouchers) and 4 x Red Bull F1 Racing caps. 
  • Second place: R3000 (4 x R750 vouchers) and 4 x Red Bull F1 Racing caps. 
  • Third place: R2000 (4 x R500) and 4 x Red Bull F1 Racing caps and fourth place walks away with 4 x Red Bull F1 Racing caps and 4 x Red Bulletin SIGG flasks.

In Closing 

We are looking forward to coming up from Cape Town and bringing you an event that is both highly competitive and fun. The goal of the event is to keep the competitive scene of the Call of Duty community growing. With more LAN events and more tournaments, held in a competitive environment, we cannot help but get better. On that note, we can't wait to see you in JHB!
