Marvel's Spider-Man breaks sales records and New Game Plus announced

Insomniac Games’ latest PS4 exclusive, Marvel’s Spider-Man is simply put, amazing. Over the weekend I spent upwards of 30 hours and at the moment I am sitting at 90% total game completion, which means the game has a tonne of content and every single piece of it is awesome.

The game is without a doubt fantastic so it isn't that surprising that it is breaking sales records already. Marvel's Spider-Man is reportedly topping the UK Sales Chart for the week ending 8 September (one day after the game's release) according to sales monitor Chart-Tracks and it managed to achieve the biggest debut on an individual platform since Call of Duty: WWII's PS4 version. Another highly-impressive piece of information is that Marvel's Spider-Man is by far the fastest selling Spider-Man and Marvel title ever.

That has to be some amazing news as hopefully the sales performance will lead to more high-quality Marvel games and best of all, there is still a lot to look forward to in Marvel's Spider-Man in the coming months.

We already know that the game will see at least three pieces of DLC drop in the coming months in the form of “The City that Never Sleeps” content package but what about free content? That’s where a New Game Plus mode comes in and if it is close to God of War’s New Game Plus mode, then we are in for a treat and another 30 hours or more of swinging around New York doing everything a spider can.

Developer Insomniac Games replied to a fan on Twitter when asked if there will be a New Game Plus feature for Marvel’s Spider-Man, stating that: “Yes working on it now and polishing it up!”.

This short and sweet confirmation and indication that it might be coming very soon honestly just made our month. The game is simply a must-play and even after completing almost everything in the game, I found myself just swinging around the city as the movement alone makes the game worth it.

At the time of writing, no details about the New Game Plus mode have been revealed. For those of you still on the fence, check out our video review at the bottom of this article.
