Two Point Hospital devs cure the Denuvo virus less than a week after release

TWO POINT Denuvo.jpg

The spiritual successor to Theme Hospital, Two Point Hospital, released on 30 August 2018 and since then I’ve been playing it to get away from it all whenever I have the chance. The game oozes charm and it is quite a lot of fun to play, but looking at the Steam user reviews, there are a few issues.

One of these issues is performance-related on lower-end machines and many players suspects that the DRM used, the infamous Denuvo, might be behind the issues experienced. I have not experienced issues myself, but Denuvo is notorious for causing a tonne of issues and sometimes even blocks gamers from playing a game they purchased.

That’s why I am so happy to report Two Point Hospital is no longer infected with Denuvo and will instead use Steam’s standard DRM solution. This news comes from a post by the developer on Steam, noting that the hotfix is first in beta mode and will move into the live version. The developer also thanked those playing the game and supporting them, stating that:

We're 6 days into Two Point Hospital being out in the world and we find ourselves constantly blown away by your love and support for what we’re doing. So THANK YOU so much, from all of us here at the Studio.

Not ones to rest on our laurels, we’ve been hard at work improving the game and we’re ready to release a hotfix for a few issues that have cropped up in the last couple of days. We’ll be adding it to a beta branch first before migrating it over to the default branch.” - Source

If you want to get rid of Denuvo and try out the new update right now, you can do so by following the instructions below:

  • Right-click Two Point Hospital in your game library and select Properties.
  • Select the BETAS tab.
  • Choose twopointhospital_patch_beta from the drop-down menu.
  • The build will start downloading.

The update fixes a variety of bugs, crashes, AI issues and more, but the icing on the cake is definitely this little beautiful line right at the bottom of the update notes: “Replaced Denuvo anti-tamper with Steam DRM”.

It’s great to see the developers listening to players and fixing issues because the game definitely has a lot to offer. Now, it just needs a true sandbox mode and some general tweaks.

What do you think about the quick removal of Denuvo and have you played Two Point Hospital yet? Let us know in the comment section below.
