Everything you need to know about The Electronic and Gaming Expo in Cape Town this weekend

EGE Cape Town.jpg

EGE is this weekend and if you have never heard of it before it is probably because you don't live in Cape Town. Like Joburg has rAge once a year in October, EGE is Cape Town's gaming and technology expo and it aims to please the masses with LANS, stores, games and much more. It is the fourth year for the expo and it has grown bigger and better every time it opens its doors.

The event takes place from Friday 27 July to Sunday 29 July with the Friday offering a massive student discount. Instead of paying R130 per ticket, if you are a student and arrive on Friday you will pay R25. This means students that are in school uniform will get access for the day for a fraction of the cost and will be able to participate in a number of tournaments. Proceeds from the school tickets will be donated to the development of gaming and technology in disadvantaged areas.

Of course, you can expect the show to deliver the same awesome content throughout the three days. Computer Mania will be hosting a wide range of deals, there will be two cosplay competitions which are a free-for-all to enter and a Construction Competition on Sunday. Good Hope FM will be broadcasting from a number of their radio shows at the venue and PlayStation SA has given the expo a couple of PS4 consoles to giveaway.

As for the esports, the ACGL will be hosting a range of tournaments that include prizes from R750 all the way up to R46,000. These games include Call of Duty: WWII, Fortnite, FIFA, Injustice and much more. There will also be a brand new PC stage where all the action will go down which is brought to life thanks to Computer Mania, MWEB, and the ZA Gaming Alliance Facebook group. Attendees can compete in Dota 2, League of Legends, CS: GO matches and much more throughout the weekend.
