EA added additional information for the "Road to Battlefield V" initiative that gives away free Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 4 expansions, as well as give Battlefield 1 players the chance to unlock special Battlefield V cosmetic items. In May, you could download Battlefield 1: In the Name of the Tsar and Battlefield 4's Final Stand, and in June Turning Tides and Second Assault.

If you missed the deadline to download the last two expansions, then you have another chance to grab both and keep it forever:

  • Battlefield 1: Turning Tides for free on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 until July 17
  • Battlefield 4: Second Assault for free on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 until July 17
  • Battlefield 1: Apocalypse will be free to download before July 30

Read more about both expansions and where to download it here. If you're going to play Battlefield V, then you can already unlock special gun skins just by playing Battlefield 1. These freebies apply to all Battlefield 1 players, but you have to score at least 30 000 points.

  • Battlefield V: Gewehr 95 Arras Skin for free until July 17
  • Battlefield V: Gewehr 95 Osterschlacht Skin for free until July 17
  • Battlefield V: Huot Auto Rifle Canadian Cur Skin for free until July 17

There are also weekly rewards up for grabs that unlock legendary weapon skins, special dog tags, and Squad XP Boosts.

The next Battlefield V test phase, which will hopefully be an open beta, will release in August/September, that is according to a tweet from Battlefield Bulletin.

Battlefield V releases worldwide on October 19 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Check out your South African price list as well as all the pre-order details. If you are cautious to pre-order, then you should consider becoming an EA or Origin Access subscriber.

The new Origin Access Premier subscriber for PC is a great choice for those who want pre-access to EA games without paying the full price per release. For more information about the subscription read: Five reasons why you should take notice of Origin Access Premier.
