The Last of Us Part II will have more than one playable character, will focus on humanity trying to be normal again

The Last of Us Part II is everything right now. After the E3 2018 media briefing, the gaming community around the world has been begging for answers regarding just what in the world is going on in the world and who are all these people we see dancing and having a good time in the latest trailer.

Yes, we saw Ellie have her romantic moment on screen but I just wanted answers about what has happened since last we saw her and Joel. Will the game have more than one playable character and how has the world moved on since the clickers arrived? So many questions!!

Luckily, I had the opportunity to sit down with Naughty Dog during a behind-closed-doors session with the game. While I did not see anything new from what you all saw during the E3 2018 trailer, the Q&A session we had, opened up the opportunity to ask some of these questions I have had on my mind since Sony's press conference

When asked about the state of humanity and if there been a shift in the way humans have been dealing with the sudden end of the world, Naughty Dog made it pretty clear that they are invested in exploring the idea that humans are trying to do the best they can to make a normal life of things.

We kind of get to see two aspects here. At the end of the first Last of Us, we showed you Jackson City which is where Joel's brother Tommy was living and they have set up a way of life so to say. They have set up power, they were talking about having movie nights. How do you start to have a normal life again? Some of that is highlighted here with Ellie, being a teenage woman having a normal dance in a community. We also showed this other group we're calling the Seraphites which are this religious group that hold up different values.

Naughty Dog says that the world is trying to cope as best they can and Ellie is living in a community where she can sort of have a normal life and live with normal situations. However, the game will touch on different ways of survival and while one group of people are trying to have the "normal" life, another group, which are known as the Seraphites, see survival as a different thing.

This is a sort of glimpse in our minds of how people would have survived and sort of mirrors the ways people would try and survive given the circumstances. It also shows what is important for survival and the values that one would want to uphold.

When asked about other playable characters in the game and if Joel is even still alive given his lack of presence in the trailers up to now, Naughty Dog made it pretty clear that there will be additional characters we will play with.

Yes, there is going to be additional characters that you will play with. That is an important part to us. That is one way we like to get into the details of relationships seeing how characters work together. Seeing what it is like to work alongside someone else.

Well, there you have it. If anything, The Last of Us Part II is going to be an even deeper and emotional experience than that of the first game. With more people to meet and worry about and even control. While the game does not have a release date as of yet, take a look at the latest trailer below.
