CS: GO - FACEIT Major: London 2018 announced

When the top Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) teams in the world battle it out for a massive prize pool, it is possibly the most exciting Esport to watch. In January, I was on the edge of my seat all the way through as Cloud9 became the first-ever North American team to win a CS: GO Major and it was an experience like no other. Sure, there are several CS: GO tournaments to look forward to, but nothing beats a Major in my opinion.

If you love watching a CS: GO Major, then you can now mark your calendars for 20 to 23 September 2018, when the FACEIT Major: London 2018 will take place. It will be the first ever UK-based CS: GO Major and it will take place at London’s massive SSE Arena, Wembley, which will house 10,000 fans.

Tournament organizers, FACEIT, announces:

FACEIT has been part of the fabric of CS: GO Majors, having hosted the Open Qualifiers round of the competition in the past. With the unique capability to host the Major from start to finish, this year FACEIT will run all online qualifiers for all regions, hosting live event minors tournaments and concluding with the live Finals at the SSE Arena, Wembley, to provide consistency and cohesion to the Major. By utilizing its own competitive platform, FACEIT ensures that every team has an opportunity to participate, cementing its grassroots engagement and bringing a new level of excitement to the Major this September.

In addition to hosting the final with 24 participating teams in London, and welcoming 10,000 spectators to the Finals at the special CS:GO-themed SSE Arena, Wembley, FACEIT will support local activities for fans around the world to gather and enjoy the Major. Viewers will also be able to tune in to FACEIT’s broadcast to watch all of the action unfold live with new dedicated features to improve the fan’s experience. The previous Major broke a record for the most concurrent viewers of an English-language esports tournament stream with 1.13 million fans tuning into the final match.” - Source

Teams will be competing for a $1 million (R11.5 million) prize pool and it is sure to be one of the greatest CS: GO tournaments yet. At the heart of CS: GO is that passionate community of fans who love spectating the Esport. Michele Attisani, Chief Business Officer and Co-Founder of FACEIT, explained that:

The community has been at the heart of everything we do at FACEIT, and we’re so grateful for the support of the players on our platform and those who’ve attended and watched ECS. We’re excited to create an amazing celebration of CS: GO to honor that commitment. We look forward to seeing everyone there in September.” - Source

I, for one, can’t wait to watch the tournament take place. Sure, most South African fans will probably have to watch the tournament online and we are all jealous of the people attending the awesome event, but still, it is definitely something for CS: GO fans to look forward to, so mark those calendars.
