February is a big month for gaming with over 30 titles releasing across multiple genres and platforms. One of our top five Indie titles for 2018 also releases this month, as well as the greatest remake of this generation.

For us, the Nintendo Switch was the best console of 2017 and looking at all the exciting new games releasing so soon in the new year, we are excited to see what Nintendo will deliver in the remaining ten months. To help our readers navigate through the big list of February releases we've divided it into our most anticipated titles, the new games releasing on the Switch, upcoming DLC's and a section for all the rest.

We start with our top release of February 2018; Shadow of the Colossus.

Shadow of the Colossus

Release date: 06/02 WW

Platform: PS4 exclusive

Genre: Action-adventure

Mode: Single-player

Age restriction: T for Teen

Rated for: Blood, Violence

Game info: Shadow of the Colossus is the greatest remake of this generation. According to our reviewer, it is one of the “most innocent yet mysterious experiences” he has ever had in a game. The one thing those who played the original PlayStation 3 version wants to know, is if it is worth purchasing it for the PlayStation 4. The answer is that the remake is so good that you’d think you’re playing a different game. “The PS4 version looks superb with HDR bringing new life into the world you explore and the 4K resolution boosting it all beyond spectacular.  If you compare the two games you would think that they are the completely different from the visuals fidelity, and sound design is truly remarkable.

Game info: In Fe, you play as a fox-like creature of the forest who protects its inhabitants from The Silent Ones. What makes this game special, is that Fe has the ability to sing to other creatures and so gain their trust to help him on his mission to protect the forest. It looks like an enchanting game with its beautifully crafted forest and creatures, and special sound design. “Master a diverse array of cries to befriend every animal or plant and have them help you on your journey. Each having uniquely distinct attributes, abilities and behaviours that will help you to unlock and traverse new areas of the forest.”

Metal Gear Survive

Release dates: 20/02 NA, 21/02 JP, 22/02 EU & SA

Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC

Genre: Survival, action-adventure

Modes: Single-player & multiplayer

Age restriction: M 17+

Rated for:  Blood, Language, Violence

Game info: MGS is a Metal Gear V: Ground Zeroes spin-off, and sees the protagonist pulled through a wormhole into an alternate universe where he takes on the role of a Survivalist. Players can choose to play Metal Gear Survive in one of two ways; Single Play, or Co-Op Play. We played the beta where we tested the co-op and it worked fantastically. Gameplay is also great on all accounts – crafting, combat, the UI, and inventory management. Metal Gear Survive’s most enjoyable feature is in its co-op mode, with proper teamwork a must. Another element that we enjoyed was the different enemies and the challenge each presented. MGS is everything Metal Gear isn’t, and that is a good thing.
