Tis the season of giving, so Valve is celebrating the festive season by unleashing Frostivus onto Dota 2 players across the globe. Yes, you can go and download the Frostivus update right now and there is a special gift waiting for Dota 2 players who play a few matches. In the spirit of giving, every player will receive on all-new Frostivus Treasure, which is filled to the brim (18 treasures) with community-created items that look absolutely fantastic.

All you need to do to claim your free Frostivus Treasure is win three Dota 2 matches. If you want more chances to get more awesome items, then you can purchase Frostivus Treasures at R35 each. Valve announces the event by stating that:

For too many seasons have the horrors of The Greeviling and Wraith Night kept our formerly festive heroes huddled near the warmth and safety of an Ancient’s glow. But this year a handful of heroes have gathered to ensure the true Frostivus spirit emerges from the traumas of the past.

To kick off the season, today’s update unveils an all-new Frostivus Treasure, filled with 18 community-created item sets and offering the chance to unlock a Rare Batrider set, Very Rare Wraith King set, or Extremely Rare Puck set.” - Source

I, for one, will be trying my luck to get the Puck set, because the ambient effects on it look amazing. The treasure does have escalating odds, so the more you open, the better chance you have of getting one of the rare items.

Just look at that Puck set!

A new treasure isn’t the only thing that Dota 2 players can enjoy this holiday season, as Valve has also unleashed a Frostivus Festival Special Event. You can queue for this game mode right now and compete against other players in a series of mini-games. Valve explains that:

Now to truly foster the holiday spirit and resurrect the tradition of the truce, everyone is invited to partake in the Frostivus Festival Special Event. Queue up to enter the fray and compete against friends and strangers alike in a madcap series of mini-games (randomly selected from a larger pool for each match) that will test your skills but never diminish your holiday cheer.” - Source

Last, but not least, Valve has announced the Workshop contributor winner. VicFrank has won the grand prize of $30,000 (just over R400,000 at the current Dollar to Rand exchange rate). Further, Valve thanked everyone who entered the contest.
