Blizzard takes some hilarious shots at the EA Star Wars Battlefront 2 debacle

Blizzard shots at EA.jpg

Unless you’ve been living under a Loot Box-shaped rock this week, you’ve probably heard about two things. First up is the microtransactions controversy in Star Wars Battlefront 2 and EA’s response to the whole situation and then, it’s that StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is now free-to-play for everyone.

The microtransaction issues in Star Wars Battlefront 2 are serious and players are definitely not happy about it. It is something we all should discuss and I will be going hands-on with all these concerns in a video next week.

Before that, however, we’ve got some hilarious events to share with you. Blizzard has taken some shots at the whole controversy via the official StarCraft Twitter account that almost made me spit out my coffee this morning. There is also a one-minute video from Blizzard that will make you cry from laughter at the bottom of this article.

Although Blizzard doesn’t once mention Star Wars Battlefront 2 or EA, there is no doubt in my mind that it is a jab at the debacle doing on right now. It is as clear as a pay-to-win microtransaction system.

The series of Tweets:

  • “Number of hours it takes to earn the full StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty Campaign: 0”
  • “Number of hours before you can play ANY Co-op Commander in StarCraft II: 0”
  • “Number of pay-to-win mechanics in StarCraft II: 0”

Some comedic commentary on the issue, or maybe even about the direction the gaming industry as a whole is taking at the moment. It is one of those “it’s funny cause its true” moments and I just can’t stop smiling. Thank you, Blizzard, thank you!

Check out the hilarious StarCraft II going free-to-play video from Blizzard below and then tell us what you think about it all in the comment section. Warning: Please don’t drink anything while you are watching the video, because of spillage possibilities.
