Cyberpunk 2077 will feature online components

While we have not seen anything in regards to Cyberpunk 2077 from the awesome team at CD Projekt RED in a while now, give or take four years, details have been revealed that confirms the game will have an online mode to ensure the game's long-term success. This is according to Adam Kicinski who chatted to Strefa Inwestorow about the success of The Witcher 3 and how they are using that as a platform to improve on the huge impact it made on the industry.

According to Kicinski, the studio will be exploring new fields that were not yet explored in The Witcher. "I can’t say much about Cyberpunk, although our ambitions are set really high because that is our style of work. We want to go even higher, and especially seeing how we’re having a business chat, we’re interested in Cyberpunk being commercially even more significant."

Kicinski goes on to explain how important it is to make sure the game has an online component to achieve a long-term success. "Online is necessary, or very recommended if you wish to achieve a long-term success. At some point, we have mentioned that there will be a certain online element related to Cyberpunk."

While this online aspect is still not known to the public, it seems that the team working on Cyberpunk 2077 are hard at work cooking up something awesome for us. If this online mode will be PvP or PvE is unknown, but knowing the studio I am sure it will be great. As for the game itself, Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be bigger than the Witcher 3 and takes place in Night City, a fictional city between San Francisco and LA. The city is filled with mobs as well as corporate stooges and gangs. We know very little about how the game will work and how the combat, RPG elements, and even who the main character is at this stage. All we can do is sit and wait for more details. Take a look at the 2013 reveal trailer below. Yes, it has almost been five years since we have seen anything new from the game.

Do you think this online aspect could be a game changer? Let us know in the comments below.
