Dota 2's latest update reduces input latency and more

DOta 2 update.jpg

Since the massive Dueling Fates update for Dota 2 was released last week, Valve has continued to work on the game by pushing out a big balance patch and two small updates including numerous fixes. However, the last small update, released last night, has more to it than it seems.

We all hate it when our commands don’t go through quickly because of the delay and it is just terrible especially in a game where quick reactions can win a team fight. Well, in the small update, Valve has also reduced the input latency of some aspects of Dota, which should result in less delay! That’s probably the best Dota 2 news I’ve heard in years.

Valve announced the changes on Twitter via the official Dota 2 account, stating that:

Today's update reduces input latency from various components in the Dota command processing system. We've reworked how the dedicated servers handle incoming messages and how the engine processes user commands, resulting in more responsiveness and less delay on your actions.” - Source

It remains to be seen how much of an effect these changes will have on gameplay and if it will really be all that noticeable, but we are all hoping for the best and it is great to see Valve improving on the game in this manner. Below, you can check out the additional fixes in the latest Dota 2 update.

Update notes:

  • Fixed being able to sell back the bonus mango for full value by forming Magic Wand
  • Fixed Monkey King's Mischief to move at the new courier speed (350->380)
  • Fixed True Form transformation time
  • Fixed Lifesteal talents being disabled by Break
  • Daily bonus heroes now show up in the main menu
  • Added status duration indicator for Astral Imprisonment and Disruption
  • Fixed All Random Death Match adding a TP scroll to your inventory every death
  • Various workshop related bug fixes
  • Fixed a regression with the herolist.txt file in custom games
  • Added support for overriding the constants of Strength, Agility, and Intelligence derived stats in custom games. - Source
