Grab Watch Dogs for free right now and keep it forever

We’ve seen quite a number of free games over the past few months, but let’s face it, they were mostly very old titles that, although definitely worth grabbing, weren’t for everyone. So, what about a big, AAA title that released in 2014? That’s what Ubisoft is giving away to PC players starting today and running until 13 November at 18:00 South African time.

Yes, you can pick up the open world, action-adventure hackathon, Watch Dogs, for free, nothing, nada, niks! All you need to do is head on over to this link and claim the game before the giveaway expires. There are no strings attached, all you need to have is a free Uplay account and you keep it forever, or at least until the inevitable robot uprising occurs and there is no more internet.

For some, it might look like just a free play weekend, but looks can be deceiving. Ubisoft confirmed on Twitter that the game will stay in your Uplay library and it will be yours to keep after the giveaway expires. I tested it this morning and it works without issue. The giveaway actually only starts at 18:00 but I could already claim it at 07:00 this morning, but we just have to wait until 18:00 today to play the game. Thankfully for those who can’t wait to play it, you can already preload Watch Dogs while you wait for the game to fully unlock on Uplay.

You play as Aiden Pearce, a brilliant hacker and former thug, whose criminal past led to a violent family tragedy. Now on the hunt for those who hurt your family, you'll be able to monitor and hack all who surround you by manipulating everything connected to the city’s network. Access omnipresent security cameras, download personal information to locate a target, control traffic lights and public transportation to stop the enemy…and more. Use the city of Chicago as your ultimate weapon and exact your own style of revenge.

Watch Dogs did get some mixed reception from critics when it was released in 2014, but it is definitely still worth playing. It might even lead you to get Watch Dogs 2 released late last year, which is an awesome game and a must-play.

Watch the launch trailer for Watch Dogs below and then tell us if you will be picking up this incredible freebie in the comments section.
