Paris Games week all the trailers.jpg

If the awesome new game announcements and important updates, including release dates, weren’t enough to get you excited, Sony showed off a tonne of gameplay and trailers during the PlayStation Media Showcase at Paris Games Week yesterday. We simply can’t wait to get our hands on these games, from the PS VR titles to the big AAA exclusives coming the PS4 and PS4 Pro.

Not only did Sony make some great announcements and showed off incredible gameplay, but they truly exceeded my expectations for the show and then some. Right at the start of the Media Showcase, Sony had another new IP to announce, called Ghost of Tsushima. Then, later on, they announce another game that looks fantastic, called Concrete Genie and further announced the rumoured expansion for Destiny 2, Curse of Osiris, which releases on 5 December 2017.

But you probably don’t want to read more of my ramblings, so let’s get straight to the point and watch all these gameplay videos and trailers, with a bit of extra information thrown into the mix as well.

Please note that the "New gameplay footage and trailers" section has some awesome videos people have been dying to see, from The Last of Us Part II, Monster Hunter World, God of War and much more, but first, we get tot he newly announced games.

New game announcements and trailers

Ghost of Tsushima

“The year is 1274. Samurai warriors are the legendary defenders of Japan--until the fearsome Mongol Empire invades the island of Tsushima, wreaking havoc and conquering the local population. As one of the last surviving samurai, you rise from the ashes to fight back. But, honorable tactics won't lead you to victory. You must move beyond your samurai traditions to forge a new way of fighting--the way of the Ghost--as you wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Japan.”

Concrete Genie

"Concrete Genie is a game about a bullied teenager named Ash, who escapes his troubles by painting spectacular living landscapes and mischievous creatures throughout his abandoned hometown of Denska. As he masters this magical paint, he discovers it can purify Denska’s polluted walls. Can Ash overcome the bullies and paint his hometown back to life?"

Destiny 2 Expansion - Curse of Osiris

“Curse of Osiris sends you back to the stars to solve a new mystery. The Vex are on the march, and our only hope to stop them may lie with Osiris, the notorious heretic and most powerful Warlock in the history of the Last City. On your quest to find him, you’ll meet new characters, explore new places, tackle new challenges, and earn some sweet new loot.”

The Hong Kong Massacre

“The game is a fast-paced top-down shooter set in the city of Hong Kong. Inspired by Hong Kong action movies, the game let’s the player engage in hard-boiled gunfights around the city in levels ranging from restaurants to building rooftops.”

The Gardens Between

“The game follows two best friends, Arina and Frendt, who find themselves in this strange and surreal world of garden islands. As a player, you follow the pair and manipulate time to solve puzzles and uncover the gardens’ secrets. As you control time, moving it backwards and forwards, the characters can manipulate the world around them, changing the flow of cause and effect.”

Oure – Out now for PS4

“You play the role of a child pushed alone into a strange world by their reluctant parents. Once in that world, the child discovers they can transform into a dragon that draws power from the clouds to soar through the skies. Uncovering the origin of their powers and their parents’ hopes is part of a journey that explores themes and experiences all of us go through as we grow up, and those of parents as they let their children go into the world without them.”

Erica – Playlink

"Erica is an interactive live-action drama, with no 3D graphics at all. That means you are interacting with a film that has no visible interruptions so it feels utterly cinematic. It has the pace, flow, and production value of a Hollywood movie. The difference in Erica is that you are an active participant, guiding the namesake protagonist in her journey."

Apex Construct (PS VR)

"Apex Construct is played in first-person. You’ll control both hands using your PS Move controllers: You can pick things up, move around freely in the world via seamless teleportation, fight using your upgradable bow and block incoming attacks with your shield while throwing a grenade. The world contains secrets to uncover, which let you level up your equipment in your homebase. From there, you can replay any mission to find secrets you might have missed the first time."

Spelunky 2

"As you can see from the trailer, parenthood has had a big influence on Spelunky 2’s story and themes. For now, I’ll leave it to your imagination what it all means, but I will say that there are similarities between being a parent and working on a sequel. Both involve a lot of reflecting on the past as well as thinking about the future. With Spelunky 2, we get a chance to examine in depth what makes Spelunky unique and draw it out even more. At the same time, we need to move forward and take some risks with new ideas, keeping the series fresh for longtime fans and for ourselves."

Eden Tomorrow (PS VR)

"It is a new, story-driven sci-fi VR game with easily understandable yet challenging gameplay where the player has to prove their skills both in unravelling mysteries and timing."

“Onrush is all about thrill-seeking, adrenaline-pumping, grin-inducing fun. To those of you familiar with the arcade racing genre, the concept of ‘Boost’ won’t be a new one – but we’re bringing something new to the party: RUSH. What’s RUSH, we hear you cry? Well, it’s an injection of explosive speed and unstoppable force that always packs the possibility of being your best moment in the game. RUSH is the ultimate manifestation of power and speed, and when used at the right moment can wreak absolute havoc on the competition.”

Blood and Truth (PS VR)

“The capabilities of PS VR have allowed us to put you into the shoes of an action hero in a way you won’t have experienced before. From the moment you slip on the headset, you become Ryan Marks, an elite Special Forces soldier who is on a dangerous mission to save his family from a ruthless criminal overlord. Playing as Ryan, you will come face to face with enemies, uncover secrets and experience the thrill of the chase.”

Guacamelee! 2

“Seven years after defeating Carlos Calaca, Juan Aguacate is forced to don his luchador mask again to face a new threat -- this time to the very fabric of space and time. Punch your way through a whole new Metroid-vania style world and try to save the Mexiverse!”

Megalith (PS VR)

“Disruptive Games is thrilled to announce Megalith, coming to PSVR in 2018 as a timed exclusive! Megalith is an action-packed hero shooter that transforms you into a titan, letting you use your massive size and firepower to compete with others in a quest to become a god. Immersed in the conflict of an ancient world, you will need to use a combination of teamwork and skill to survive. Fight for supremacy on the fields of battle using free locomotion, strategy, and destructible environments. Define your own style of combat by customizing your abilities so that you can vanquish your foes and push your disciples to victory.”
