Dota 2: The post-TI shuffle – Chinese juggernaut iG announces their new rosters

Dota 2 Invictus Gaming roster.jpg

The 2017/2018 season of professional Dota 2 is going to be something special, especially with the major changes Valve is making with the next competitive season. Over the past few weeks, the post-TI shuffle has been very interesting, the top professional teams fill their rosters.

One of my favourite Chinese organizations, Invictus Gaming, who defeated Na’Vi in The International 2012 to claim the Aegis of Champions, has seen some big changes throughout the years. The main iG team performed well in The International 2017, taking sixth place, but now, they organization has announced their new rosters.

Below, you can check out the two new rosters, for both iG.Vitality and the main iG squad.

iG.Dota2:

  • iG.Q
  • iG.OP
  • iG.Xxs
  • iG.BoBoKa
  • iG.GazEoD

iG.Vitality:

  • iG.V.Flyby
  • iG.V.Sakata
  • iG.V.Srf
  • iG.V.dogf1ghts
  • iG.V.super

As you can see, there is no Xu 'BurNIng' Zhilei, arguably the greatest player that has not lifted an Aegis of Champions. BurNing will “take some time off and steer the focus towards family at the beginning of the season”. The iG team will see former VG player End take over the carry role. Further, the announcement explains that InJuly is taking a rest. Hopefully BurNIng will return one day, as he still needs to win a The International. However, if and when he will return remains unclear.

Maybe he will take up a coaching role at some point. Even so, both of iG’s teams look extremely strong and it will be interesting to see how they perform or if they both qualify for the first major for the next season, ESL One Hamburg, as the qualifiers are starting later this month with the tournament kicking off in October.

What do you think about iG’s new Dota 2 rosters for the 2017/2018 season and are you a fan of Xu 'BurNIng' Zhilei? Let us know in the comment section below.
