Sony E3 Press Conference – All the amazing PS4 exclusives

PS4 exclusives E3 2017.jpg

Just like their E3 Press Conference last year, Sony absolutely nailed it this year, showing off a diverse lineup of titles, a large number of PlayStation 4 exclusives and much more. I dare say it is their best E3 showing ever, focusing on what is arguably the most important – the games!

Before we get to the games shown off, we’ve got some news for you as well. Sony has announced the next PlayStation Experience (which was amazing last year ICYMI). The PlayStation Experience will take place from 9 to 10 December 2017, so we have even more to look forward to. Further, Sony announced PlayLink for PS4, an exciting new way to play games with family and friends: “PlayLink combines your smartphone or tablet device, TV and PS4 console, with a collection of brand new games that take advantage of the smartphone or tablet device’s touchscreen and camera capabilities.”

The above-mentioned announcements aside, Sony focused on what makes the PlayStation so great – all the amazing games the system has to offer. For those who couldn’t watch the action on the live stream, or at the actual event like my colleague Marco, we’ve got you covered. Check out all the awesome PS4 exclusives revealed at the Sony’s E3 Press Conference.

God of War

Release date: Early 2018

“From Santa Monica Studio and creative director Cory Barlog comes a new beginning for one of gaming’s most recognizable icons. Living as a man outside the shadow of the gods, Kratos must adapt to unfamiliar lands, unexpected threats, and a second chance at being a father. Together with his son Atreus, the pair will venture into the brutal Norse wilds and fight to fulfill a deeply personal quest.”

Spider-Man

Release date: 2018

"Starring one of the world’s most iconic Super Heroes, Spider-Man features the acrobatic abilities, improvisation and web-slinging that the wall-crawler is famous for, while also introducing elements never-before-seen in a Spider-Man game. From traversing with parkour and unique environmental interactions, to new combat and cinematic blockbuster set pieces, it’s Spider-Man unlike any you’ve played before.

Sony Interactive Entertainment, Insomniac Games, and Marvel have teamed up to create a brand-new and authentic Spider-Man adventure. This isn’t the Spider-Man you’ve met before, or seen in a movie. This is an experienced Peter Parker who’s more masterful at fighting big crime in New York City. At the same time, he’s struggling to balance his chaotic personal life and career while the fate of millions of New Yorkers rest upon his shoulders."

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Release date: 22 August 2017

“As you can see, we’ve had a chance to take the best of Uncharted—the set pieces, puzzles, cinematic storytelling, and exotic locales—and tell a completely new story with Chloe Frazer at the helm. She’s on the hunt for the legendary golden Tusk of Ganesh forged by the ancient Hoysala Empire, and to find it, she enlists the help of Nadine Ross.

However, if there’s anything we know about Chloe and Nadine, it’s that they both keep things close to the vest. Over the course of the story, we’ll explore Chloe and Nadine’s struggle to trust one another. But they aren’t the only ones searching for the Tusk. The story trailer also introduces our new antagonist: Asav. He’s a calm, calculating, and ruthless warmonger who is waging a civil war in the region. To keep the Tusk from falling into Asav’s hands, Chloe and Nadine will travel from war-torn city streets to the depths of India’s Western Ghats mountain range and the ruins of the Hoysala Empire.”

Days Gone

Release date: TBA

“Days Gone is an open-world action game set in the beautiful, high-desert of the Pacific Northwest two years after a pandemic has transformed the world. At this year’s PlayStation Media Showcase, we've unveiled a new gameplay demo that offers a more intimate glimpse into Deacon’s life as a mercenary in a world where almost everything wants to kill him.”

Shadow of the Colossus

Release date: TBA

“The unexpected reveal of Shadow of the Colossus during PlayStation’s E3 2017 Media Showcase was a rare moment of true surprise and delight. Developed by Bluepoint Games and JAPAN Studio, Shadow of the Colossus looks to be lovingly rebuilt for PS4, making one of the most artistic, emotional, and celebrated games ever made available for a new audience. The fact that Shadow of the Colossus remains so entrenched in the modern gaming discourse is a lasting monument to the game’s singular vision. If this reintroduction can introduce that wonder to a new generation of gamers, it’s a win for the medium as a whole.”

Detroit: Become Human

Release date: TBA

“If you’re not familiar with the game yet, Detroit: Become Human is Quantic Dream’s next title, for PS4 and PS4 Pro. It is a neo-noir existential thriller, set in a near future where androids look, speak, and move like human beings, and operate in society at every level from manufacturers to teachers. Until now, humans have never considered these machines as anything more than tools designed to obey orders. But some of them are starting to exhibit strange behavior, as if they were experiencing emotions. The story of Detroit follows three of these so-called ‘deviants’ as they begin to question their place in society, and desire freedom.”

Knack 2

Release date: 5 September 2017

“Similar to the first game, Knack grows in size as he picks up parts, he can be anything from human sized to many times larger than that – but now the player has some control over Knack’s size, just tap R1 and he shrinks down to two feet tall! This leads to gameplay with a rather different feel, whether it be squeezing through tight gaps in a platforming section, or scaling a cliff using narrow ledges, or even using Knack’s discarded parts as a counterweight in a puzzle.

As part of the overall evolution, Knack has a greatly expanded move set and as a result, combat has become much deeper. He can transform a number of his parts into a shield, which is helpful when facing a half-dozen opponents at once – and if Knack puts up the shield with the right timing, he can parry arrows and other attacks right back at whoever fired them! Knack can also throw parts like a boomerang and stun enemies… and he can stretch out an arm twenty feet, grab his foes and pull them into range, at which point he can use a variety of kicks and punches, or a body slam to take them out.”

Gran Turismo Sport

Release date: Fall 2017

“Major innovations in store for Gran Turismo Sport, the likes of which have not been seen since the originalIn 2017, the makers of GT will take the title to the next level with the release of Gran Turismo Sport for the PlayStation®4 console, where it will promote the rebirth of motorsports with its partnership with the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA).”
