All the games releasing in March 2017

March 2017 game releases.jpg

March marks an exceptional month in gaming with the release of the Nintendo Switch, as well as some of 2017's most anticipated games finally reaching the electronic playground. There are new star systems to explore, worlds to conquer, and the best news of it all - playing Battlefield 1's first expansion on South African servers.

Nintendo Switch

Release date: 03/03 WW

From our hands-on time with the Switch: As we recently pointed out, the Nintendo Switch has some rather tough obstacles in its way. It is coming into the market with the PS4 and Xbox One dominating the field, as well as hardware that cannot compete with the current consoles and more powerful versions of them like the PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio. Yet again Nintendo has managed to get past all of this, and somehow made me forget all about the specs, the 1080p resolution, and poor battery life of the Gamepad, and focus on the game in front of me. While I had the Joy-Con in my hand, nothing else mattered, as the hardware came to life, and the games felt so great.

The Switch might very well be the biggest surprise of 2017.

Ghost Recon Wildlands

Release date: 7/03 WW

Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One

Genre: First-person tactical shooter

Modes: Single-player & multiplayer

Age restriction: M for mature 17+

Rated for: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Partial Nudity, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, Use of Drugs. Online not rated

Game info: Tom Clancy's: Ghost Recon Wildlands is a great game, one that we think will be more casual than that of The Division. It is a ton of fun to play with friends as you explore the world and mess around. Mission looks exciting, and gameplay is smooth. Skills are automatically unlocked as you level up, but you will need resources and skill points to buy them. These are found in the world, and can be obtained by completing supply raids. There are many games that attempt stealth and fail terribly, but Wildlands makes it so that you can actually choose to go into a base in stealth, and get out without anyone being alerted. The map is filled with different activities that will keep you busy while exploring the vast open world. The game is set in the magnificent open world of Bolivia, and the areas you play in are spectacular. (From our preview)

Mass Effect Andromeda

Release dates: 21/03 NA & 23/03 EU & SA

Platforms: PC, PS4 & PS4 Pro, Xbox One

Genre: Third-person shooter / ARPG

Modes: Single-player & multiplayer

Age restriction: TBA

Game info: 600 years after the events of Mass Effect 3, Andromeda follows the story of two siblings who travel through the galaxy as Pathfinders, humans who make it their main goal to find new stars and planets to colonize. Movement in Andromeda is focused on "Fluid, fast-paced, third-person combat." The new jump jet adds movement fluidity that we've not had in previous Mass Effect games. The player can hover during any stage while in combat and move in a wide variety of directions. The new movement system also allows the player to "seamless" move from cover to cover, and using any solid object on the battlefield (even your own vehicle) as cover. The purpose of the movement system is to allow for a different approach and execution of unique player strategy on the battlefield.

Andromeda has four categories of guns, and a range of melee weapons for close-quarters combat. There are no class restrictions, so your squad can use every gun. Guns and gear fall into three technology types, which is based on where the tech came from. Unlike in previous Mass Effect games, there are no restrictions on skills. There are three main categories, each designed to suit a specific play style. Each skill can be upgraded in different paths to better suit your play style.

Master mighty weapons, including sword and shield, two-handed hammers, dual-wielded axes and swift bows. Earn blood in battle to offer in tribute to the Gods in order to acquire and enhance devastating Spell Powers and other special unlockables.
