The Walking Dead Season 3 will also cater for series newcomers

Clementine's fight against the undead seems to be a never-ending struggle as Telltale Games announced a brand new season yesterday. In season three Clem is no longer a child that needs protection, but a veteran of this war.

If you're new to the series, then you don't even have to play Season one or two, you can jump right in at season three. Telltale uses a new character, AJ (the son of Rebecca from Season Two), to bring newcomers up to speed with the story of The Walking Dead. However, I highly recommend you play the previous seasons, it was without a doubt, one of my most memorable gaming experiences.

For those who have been playing all the seasons, Telltale promises "a story that's uniquely tailored to the diverging paths they've taken in the past." In season three you'll play as two characters; Clementine and Javier - although it seems at different time frames. Telltale released a new screenshot showing Clem and Javier walking through a "walker-infested slaughterhouse."

Telltale's purpose with Javier was to introduce a character into the series who had no previous connection to Clementine. "This will provide an interesting opportunity for players to meet a character they may have helped shape. They'll also have a chance to play as a survivor fresh to the series, who is currently struggling to keep his family together in the face of the undead apocalypse, " explains Telltale.

In closing, you might recognize the first image as homage to the original poster when the game was first announced at SDCC in 2011. Telltale plans to make the it available for purchase as a special limited edition The Walking Dead poster - see the full version here. Telltale is also working on a BATMAN series which will release in August.

ICYMI; The Walking Dead Season 3's teaser from E3 2016. The game will release later this year on all major platforms.
