Final Fantasy XV has a new demo Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (PS4) players can enjoy right now, called the “Platinum Demo”. The demo lets players take control of the game’s protagonist Noctis in his childhood years as he traverses a “fragmented dreamscape”. The demo’s content won’t be in the final version of the game.

"PLATINUM DEMO - FINAL FANTASY XV offers a glimpse into the final game as it whisks players away to a fragmented dreamscape of Noctis as a child. This storyline is unique to the demo and will not be available in the final version of the main game.  Players can take control of young Noctis as he masters various weapons, magic skills and driving.  To overcome the many monsters within this fantastical dream world, young Noctis will have Carbuncle as is his magical guide. Players who complete the demo will unlock the exclusive Carbuncle summon DLC for the full game at launch." Square Enix

Square Enix also announced a “feature-length CGI film called Kingsglaive”, which has been in the works for three years. Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV was directed by Takeshi Nozue (the co-director of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children) and “longtime cinematic director at Square Enix.”

"KINGSGLAIVE: FINAL FANTASY XV is a CG movie, presented by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Square Enix. The animated feature weaves together the complexities of kingdoms at war, royal relationships and epic battles in a tale that will set the stage for the main FINAL FANTASY XV narrative. The CG movie features an all-star cast with Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones) voicing Regis, the King of Lucis who has sworn to protect his kingdom, Lena Headey (300, Game of Thrones), voicing Luna, the princess who has been entrusted to deliver the royal ring of Lucis to Prince Noctis, and Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), voicing Nyx. The title will be released digitally worldwide before the game’s launch.  Square Enix

The magical kingdom of Lucis is home to the hallowed Crystal, but the menacing empire of Niflheim will stop at nothing to make it theirs. War has raged between the two for as long as most can remember.

King Regis of Lucis commands an elite force of soldiers dubbed the Kingsglaive. Wielding their king’s magic, Nyx Ulric and his fellow glaives stand before the crown city of Insomnia, fighting to stay the inexorable advance of Niflheim’s imperial army.

Before the overwhelming military might of the empire, King Regis can only salvage his kingdom by accepting anultimatum—he must cede all lands outside the crown city, and see his son, Prince Noctis, wed to Lady Lunafreya, the former princess of Tenebrae now captive of Niflheim. As the war of wills rages, the machinations of Niflheim transform Insomnia into an awe-inspiring battleground, pulling Nyx into a struggle for the very survival of the kingdom. Square Enix

The film will be released worldwide to stream or download before Final Fantasy XV launches and will be distributed by Sony Pictures.
