What other devs can learn from Witcher 3

We've come to the end of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's 16 free DLC's. In other DLC news, yesterday Warner Bros released the details of Batman: Arkham Knight's August DLC. Let me just throw in here, that while PlayStation and Xbox owners get silly DLC's, PC owners are still waiting for Warner Bros. to fix the broken game they released knowingly. Last month Warner Bros. promised a PC update in August that would fix many of Arkham Knight's issues; hopefully we'll get that update as promised.

So, on the one hand, we have CD Projekt Red, who released a game with 200+ hours of content, 16, fun free DLC's and for the season pass, 30 hours extra content (two extra stories).

On the other hand, we have Warner Bros. who released a fantastic game (except for the broken PC version), but with a very expensive season pass that gives you skin packs, race tracks and disappointing side-stories. CDPR will only now, after the free DLC's concluded, charge players for an expansion; that's so big it's almost equal to a full game.

CDPR's approach to how they value people that buy their game should be an industry standard, not the exception.

Marcin Iwiński, co-founder, CD PROJEKT RED. “I’d like to extend my thanks to all the gamers who played our game and gave these DLCs a try. Nothing makes a developer happier than seeing gamers have fun with what they created,” Iwiński adds, noting that “I would really like to see such initiatives become an industry standard rather than an exception to the general rule, and I hope that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has set a good example.”

The gamers of the world salute you.

We're a passionate bunch, and we get riled up pretty easily, sometimes about silly things ;). But here's something that we can all get behind and support. We can use our social media platforms to add our agreement to Iwiński. CDPR deserves our thank you and our agreement.

“We’ve been releasing free DLCs since launch, and today’s release of New Game +, the 16th and last of them, marks a special moment for us and, I hope, for all Wild Hunt fans as well. They can now restart their adventure and see how the story turns out if they make different choices than on their first play-through.” Marcin Iwińsk
