Man sends Bethesda 2240 bottle caps to trade for Fallout 4

Fallout 4 is on everyone’s mind after an amazing showing at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). For those of you who don’t know for some odd reason which I can’t fathom, the Fallout games use bottle caps as its main form of currency. One avid fan has been hording bottle caps for over seven years and sent them all to Bethesda with the hopes of receiving a pre-order copy of Fallout 4 in return.

2240 bottle caps – A fair trade?

A man, going by the name of GatorMacheteJr on Imgur, is clearly a big fan of the game. For seven and a half years, he has been saving up all his bottle caps for the inevitable reveal and release of Fallout 4. After the official reveal, he sent his “life savings” to Bethesda in the hopes that the developers will reward his creativity with a Steam key for Fallout 4.

Fallout 3 was my favourite game for several years, so I made the rational choice to start saving up bottle caps. Turns out 4.5 years of undergrad and 3 years in a Master’s program leads to a lot of drinking.

The shipment weights just over five kilograms. The only downside to all of this is that if Bethesda accepts his offer, it might start a precedent in which other fans will try to pay for the game using bottle caps as well.

He was hoping to get the attention of Bethesda and the internet so that his request can’t be denied and so far, it seems to be working out wonderfully. You can find an image of the letter attached with his life savings here.

“I’m hoping if this post gets popular enough their PR department will be too nervous to turn me down.”

At the time of writing, Bethesda has not given any response to the matter, but I for one hope the man’s creativity will be rewarded. However, if a nuclear apocalypse does occur, he will have no currency left to trade for some Nuke-Cola.

Are you a fan of the Fallout franchise and what will you do to get your hands on a copy of the game? Do you think Bethesda will send him a Steam key or avoid setting a precedence? Let us know in the comment section below.
