8 Bosses You Definitely Didn't Beat On Your First Go

Ornstein and Smough from Dark Souls

One of the most thrilling things about video games is to be challenged beyond your skills, failing, and keeping at it until you defeat the enemy. I loved the thrill of defeating a boss on Nightmare in DOOM. I spend countless hours strategizing with my World of Warcraft Guild for our weekly Raids. I Googled, searched forums, watched YouTube videos and lurked in IRC channels to find tips and strats. If you've been gaming as long as I have, then you'll remember the days before there was an Internet that guided you through every difficult battle. It was tough times. Do you know the feels? I'm sure most of you can recall times where you've gotten the upper hand over a particularly difficult boss, opponent or task.

PlayStation Access listed their top eight hardest boss kills, or rather, bosses you definitively didn't kill on the first go.

  1. Cleric in Bloodborne -How many times did you die?
  2. Phantom in Devil May Cry - Two of the scariest things in the world, spiders and lava, what can be more challenging?
  3. Shao Kahn in Mortal Kombat 9 - A boss you probably tried beating over and over and over...
  4. Ornstein and Smough in Dark Souls - Brutally difficult even for Dark Souls. The combination of the duo is simply too hard to beat in your first go.
  5. Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts - Die over and over while being distracted by his good looks and background music.
  6. Through the Fire and Flame by Dragon Force in Guitar Hero 3 - Not your typical boss fight, but just as difficult to beat, and you definitively didn't get it pitch perfect the first time. It's the most difficult tune in Guitar Hero history.
  7. Ruby Weapon in Final Fantasy VII - It will be easy they said... even buffed to max, you'll not be able to take him down.. for a very long time.
  8. Atheon, Time's Conflux in Destiny -Look, it's easy once all party members know what to do, it's near impossible when you don't.

Your turn, tell us about that time you died a shameful amount of times and had to Google to find the strategy to defeat a boss.
