One Time Pin
The One Time Pin (OTP) process intercepts the various transactions in My Account then links to MWEB Mobile to send the SMS (OTP) to the mobile number registered with MWEB Mobile.
Is the registration for OTP compulsory?
Yes, if you want to perform any of the transactions that require OTP.
If I have already registered for Mobile services, does this mean I am automatically registered for OTP?
Yes this means you are automatically registered for OTP.
If I do not have a cellphone, what must I do to perform a transaction requiring OTP?
You can contact our call centres to perform the transactions on your behalf, e.g. purchase boosters.
How do I register? When I click on the link (http://www.mweb.co.za/MyAccount/Mobile/Default.aspx), it takes me to the Mobile page. There is no OTP registration anywhere on this page?
You do not register yourself for OTP, you actually register your mobile number in the mobile module. OTP links the mobile module to send the SMS to the registered mobile number.
If I do not register, does that mean I won't be able to to perform transactions like purchase credits or boosters, update my billing or banking details etc?
Unfortuantely yes! Without registering your mobile number, these transactions will not be possible on your own except if you call into our call centre.
Apart from OTP, will I get any other SMS Spam and will I be charged to "Opt Out"?
No you will not be charged as OTP is a free service provided by MWEB for your security. MWEB respects the privacy of our customer's and will not share or disclose your mobile number to anyone.
Can I register my email address to receive OTP?
No, as doing this will compromise your email address and the security effect of OTP.
