Billion 7401 Firmware Upgrade
When upgrading your Billion 7401 Router's Firmware, please take note of the tips and steps listed below.
Very Important:
1. Do NOT follow these instructions to upgrade your router's firmware if everything is already working as it should. You risk damaging your router and/or losing your connection.
2. Do NOT unplug your ADSL line when upgrading your firmware.
Firstly, download the firmware upgrade file from ftp2.mweb.co.za/bin/billion/
To start the upgrade, log onto your router by going to this web address in your web browser: 192.168.1.254.
TIP: When prompted for your router's login details, use "admin" for the username and "admin" for the password (leave out the quotation marks). Please remember that once your router has been installed and the firmware upgraded, it is advisable to change these login details to something that only you will know.
Once logged onto your router, you will see the following screen:

Once you've logged on, click on Configuration:

From the list in the left-hand navigation bar, click on System:

Next, click on Firmware Upgrade:

You'll now be prompted to upload the Firmware Upgrade file that you should already have saved on your PC:

Once you've uploaded the file and clicked on Upgrade, you should see the screen below. Click on OK.

NB: Please wait until the file is fully uploaded. You'll know this once the popup box in the previous screen disappears. While waiting, please DO NOT unplug your router!

Once the file has been successfully uploaded, you'll see the following screen. Select Factory Default Settings and then click Restart:

Your router will now automatically restart:

Wait a few minutes for the ADSL light on your router to come on again.
You should now be able to browse the Web again.
