FIFA 14: Prepare for kickoff with the ultimate football title

The upcoming release of FIFA 14 from Electronic Arts (EA) is going to be as formidable a title as FIFA 13 was. With a large number of updated and added features, it will surely make this the ultimate football title on the market and will surely earn EA gold status.

EA partners with football legends

Taking it even further, EA also announced their collaboration with one of the biggest footballing teams in Europe if not the world. EA has joined a 3 year partnership with Barcelona F.C. as their official video partner. Through the partnership, EA SPORTS captured 3D head scans of 17 F.C. Barcelona stars such as Xavi Hernandez, Gerard Piqué, Cesc Fàbregas, Dani Alves, and Andrés Iniesta. The stars will feature as stunning, high-quality and authentic 3D digital player models in FIFA 14. In addition, Camp Nou, Barcelona’s home pitch, will be a featured stadium. F.C. Barcelona and its superstar forward and FIFA 14 cover athlete, Lionel Messi, will become central figures in global marketing, advertising and social media activities for the critically acclaimed FIFA franchise. Plus, F.C. Barcelona will host an exclusive videogame tournament later this year to determine the best FIFA 14 player on the squad.

Whilst this partnership is unique, it is a mere fraction of what EA has brought to the game of simulated football to fans around the world. With over 33 officially licensed leagues, over 600 clubs and more than 16,000 footballers, not to mention the addition of the Chilean Primera Division, Argentinean Primera and 19 Brazilian clubs. What more can any ardent footballing gaming fan ask for?

Then there is the addition of some of the world's most legendary footballers, from former France and Arsenal playmaker Patrick Vieira, to dutch sensation Ruud Gullit, and arguably the world's greatest skill master, Pelé into the FIFA 14 Ultimate Team brought to the Xbox 360® and Xbox One®, the all-in-one games and entertainment systems from Microsoft. Fans will be able to craft their FIFA 14 Ultimate Team with a mix of legendary players playing alongside today’s football stars. Each Legend will have unique attributes that will showcase the skills and flair that made them legendary at the height of their careers, and will be randomly included in Gold Packs in FIFA 14 Ultimate Team beginning with the launch of the Xbox One. With names still echoed around in footballing circles, will be available for you to play as, footballers such as Bergkamp, Kluivert, Seaman, Sheringham, Cannavaro, Crespo, Linekar, van Basten, van der Sar, van Nistelrooy, de Boer brothers to name but a few. The dream team you always wanted to create, now there for you to masterpiece together.

Become the legend

EA wants to recreate the ambiance of football in gaming. It wants you to feel as though it is you walking out onto the pitch in front of tens of thousands of adoring fans, chanting your name as you make you way to the center circle preparing for kick-off. You will be able to experience the raw emotion of scoring great goals in FIFA 14*. Innovations to the award-winning gameplay make the game more authentic and more fun no matter your style of play. Dictate the tempo of a match, create chances through midfield, and then unleash the perfect strike.

The perfect strike

A new feature called Pure Shot and a brand-new ball physics system will transform shooting, making every shot attempt feel real, and when players connect with the perfect strike, feel exhilarating.

Pure Shot is a feature will allow players to position themselves to get into the best possible position to take a shot. While players will be able to shoot while off balance and rushed, the shots will look as if the player is off balance with the accuracy of the shot being affected for the positive or negative. "A player will no longer look robotic while shooting because we put a real emphasis on bring about a real feel and look to the game," said FIFA 14 producer Santiago Jaramillo during EA Sports Showcase in New York City.

Co-Op Seasons

EA SPORTS also announced today that it has developed Seasons into a new online** mode called Co-op Seasons, where anyone can play with a friend online against two other online friends anywhere in the world in 2v2 ranked online play, trying to climb up to Division One, win a League Title and achieve greatness together. In addition, Match Day has been expanded to Seasons and Co-op seasons, completely connecting fans playing online to the football season for the world’s top leagues, with injuries, suspensions, and player form changing throughout the season based on real-world events and performances. Achieving global success with a friend couldn't have been done anywhere else. This is another achievement that I feel brings footballer friends together.

Next-gen football

When playing FIFA 14 on Xbox One and PS4, fans will feel the electricity of a living stadium, and experience the majesty of the world’s greatest football theatres. From dramatic broadcast-inspired stadium flyovers to emotional pre-match ceremonies, fans will see and feel the match like never before. A new feature called Match Flow will revolutionize the FIFA experience, delivering dynamic and continuous gameplay. Players will interact with side-line characters such as ball boys so they can get the ball back into play as the clock winds down and the pressure mounts and fans will witness the build-up and player positioning prior to corners or free kicks. The all-new in-game Director will keep fans connected to the action. With 121 different broadcast cameras outside the stadium and positioned around the pitch, each following star players and headline makers, FIFA 14 will deliver stunning new replay angles, compelling storylines, and all the emotion that unfolds within a match…so FIFA 14 will look and feel alive. Walking down that tunnel will feel like an Electric Avenue.

This is what FIFA 14 will look like on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, breathtaking, adrenaline pumping football!

A FIFA 14 demo will launch worldwide for the Xbox 360 and PC beginning September 10, and for the PlayStation 3 September 10 in North America, and September 11 in Europe and South Africa.
