PS4: First and foremost a game console

More and more good news keeps coming from Sony since the announcement of the Xbox One. Since the mass Twitter campaign directed at Sony to not use DRM, Sony has since proved that their stance on DRM and other burning issues is weighing more favourably to their customers than that of Microsoft since the Xbox One reveal. After an interview at All Things Digital , Kaz Hirai, Sony CEO has been quoted to say:

“The most important thing we need to make sure we do at least initially is that we all agree and understand that the PS4 is a great videogame console that appeals to video games, if we miss that part then I don’t think we get the initial establishment of the console.”

At least it appears someone is listening out there. With words like "Please know that we hear you. <3" coming from employees like Nick Accordino, a Sony producer we can definitely say that we are being listened to. Naturally nothing is set in stone, and we still have to remember that Microsoft is a wild card in the next-gen console game. The following Tweet was spotted on Aaron Greenberg's twitter page:

One can only wonder how Microsoft will recover their fan base after their string of PR disasters following the big reveal of May 21st, 2013. We have been promised that Microsoft will "get it right" at E3. Time will tell unfortunately.

That said, I'm looking forward to what will be shown at E3. This year's E3 conference certainly promises to be more exciting than anything shown in the last few years. One thing we can say that is that since the Xbox One Reveal, we as the customer of many big gaming companies have realised that we have more power than before and are not afraid to use it to push change where it is needed.

Vive la Revolution?
