ICE, a development company started by South Africans in 2011, had a very noble goal of making "a real change to the world using gaming.
With this in mind, they started on the development on The Adventures of Gi, which is a single player 3D action adventure game that is set in the Mayan Jungle. Players are offered the opportunity to play through five maze-type levels, all the way healing the world by battling Carbon Mozzies, Radioactive Centipedes and other polluting nasties. Gamers can also power special abilities by collecting seeds and crystals. That's not all though, you can also purchase items to customise your character.
However, the game play is not the only important aspect to this title; 30% of the revenue that is earned by this game goes towards planting trees. In fact, when you go pick up a copy of this game from the iTunes Store, you are even sent a tree certificate to verify your contribution to reforestation.
At the moment, the game is only available for iPhones and iPads for a lowly sum of $0.99 at the iTunes Store. The world needs more trees, so go and do it!
You can also find The Adventures of Gi on Facebook and you can read all about the development of the game on their website.
If this all sounds familiar, then you probably saw them featured on this episode of GameZoneTV
