Journey nominated for a Grammy

Journey has already received more than its fair share of awards and acclaim, but come February next year Thatgamecompany’s adventure game may just have another piece of gold to add to its already heavy mantle. The game's haunting soundtrack has been nominated for a Grammy in the category "Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media".

The moving score was penned by composer Austin Wintory, who came away stunned by the nomination, saying on twitter, “Well I don’t really have words right now”.

Journey is the only video game soundtrack nominated in the category, finding itself competing with The Adventures Of Tintin – The Secret Of The Unicorn; The Artist; The Dark Knight Rises; The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo; and Hugo.

Should the best-selling PSN release of all time secure the Grammy, it will be the second time a video game soundtrack takes the honour. Last year "Baba Yetu" a song from the soundtrack to Civilization IV by composer Christopher Tin and featuring South Africa's own Soweto Gospel Choir, took the Grammy for "Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s)".

The 55th Grammy Awards will be held on 10th February 2013. (Unless the Mayans were right.)
