Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 servers for PC to be hosted in South Africa

(Cape Town, 13 November 2012) South African Internet Service Provider MWEB has announced that it will once again partner with to be the exclusive South African host for Activision Publishing, Inc’s and Treyarch’s new Call of Duty®: Black Ops 2. The much anticipated title is scheduled to launch worldwide on Tuesday, November 13, 2012.

“The sustained partnership between MWEB and has continued to allow for a superior network experience for online multiplayer gaming in South Africa and the partnership has seen the online gaming sphere grow from strength to strength. Online gaming has been a key focus for the ISP, which has been optimising its network to accommodate top gaming titles hosted in South Africa,” says Nathier Kasu, GM: MWEB Digital.

MWEB will host Call of Duty®: Black Ops 2 in its Cape Town data centres to ensure maximum gaming experience for its customers. Non-MWEB customers will also see similar benefits from the local hosting of the game as they will not have to connect to international servers.

“The MWEB GameZone team is excited to provide the South African gaming community with the opportunity of playing on local servers. We know how important it is to gamers to have a good latency for titles like this and as always, we are pleased to champion their cause!” says Desmond Kurz, MWEB Online Gaming Manager.

Megarom Interactive, who exclusively distributes the retail version of the game in South Africa, is delighted by the sustained partnership and what it is doing for the local gaming community. “It’s exciting that MWEB recognises the market of online gaming and that they strive to bring these large gaming titles to locally hosted servers to improve the gaming experience for South Africans” says Jason Borea, Director at Megarom.
