1. Thief

Release date: 28 February

Age Restriction: Mature

Genre: Stealth

Modes: Single-player

Synopsis: Garrett, the Master Thief, steps from the shadows into the City. With the Baron’s Watch spreading a rising tide of fear and oppression, a mysterious sickness grips the streets. Led by Orion, the voice of the people, the citizens rise in bloody revolution. Garrett’s thieving skills are all he can trust as he walks the fine line between politics and the people, entangled in layers of conflict. With time running out, the Master Thief unravels a terrible secret from his dark past that ultimately threatens to tear his world apart.

Gameplay: Choice-driven,  with players having a number of possible paths and approaches in a given level. Players may use the environment to their advantage, as well as pickpocket characters. As Garrett attempts to steal in levels, guards and other non-player characters (if they are aware of his presence) will try to flush him out and kill him. Different NPCs may use different means to find him, and the game's artificial intelligence will be aware of the level design, and therefore, know of potential hiding spots.

Players may enter a "Focus" mode, which provides several advantages. It enhances Garrett's vision, highlighting pipes that can be climbed, or candles that can be put out to make the area darker. Focus can also slow down time, so that Garrett is able to steal more effectively while pickpocketing. Garrett can also use Focus to push enemies or perform debilitating attacks. It can be further upgraded over the course of the game.

2. The Elder Scrolls Online

Release date: 1 April (if you pre-order)

Age Restriction: Mature

Genre: Massively multiplayer online role-playing game

Modes: Multiplayer

Synopsis: TESO’s storyline takes place 1 000 years before the events of Skyrim, while the prince Molag Bal is reigning chaotically on Tamriel, throwing the world and its nine provinces into conflict and dividing its people into three factions with one singular goal, to end the reign of Molag Bal. Each territory will have its own history, culture and traditions so we will see the style of architecture and appearance of cities differing a lot. The size of each area is rather big. If you imagine that all previous Elder Scrolls games have focused on one area, now, think of the scale of all of them plus more combined. This means that exploration and discovery will still be a core aspect of TESO as it was in previous Elder Scrolls games, which for me is just downright exciting.

Gameplay: Four classes, these include: Dragon Knight, Templar, Sorcerer and Nightblade. With an enhanced Elder Scrolls combat system, engage in real-time targeting and strategic attacks and blocks. Use any weapon or wear any armor at any time, no matter what type of character you play and develop your own style with deep character customization and abilities. With ESO’s Megaserver technology you no longer choose a server, but instead play in one connected world. The game automatically places you with friends, guild mates, people you’ve encountered before, and other like-minded players. Simply jump in and begin your adventure.

Use the city of Chicago as your ultimate weapon and exact your own style of revenge.

Gameplay: Hack into various electronic devices tied to the city's central operating system (CtOS), allowing various methods for the player to solve numerous objectives. Examples include hacking into people's phones to retrieve bank data and steal funds, triggering malfunctions in equipment to distract other characters and hacking into traffic lights to cause collisions. Players can also receive information on civilians via augmented reality feeds, providing the player with information on demographics, health and potential behaviour. Objectives showcased in presentations include finding specific targets to kill, evading the police and following potential victims in order to stop their would-be killers. Combat utilizes a combination of stealth components and parkour, along with the mechanics of a cover-based third-person shooter.

The multiplayer experience is a one-on-one interaction between two human characters in which one player seamlessly and secretly joins the single player experience of another player. The first player (which entered the other player's world) is tasked with finding the second player (which is initially unaware that another human is in their game session - no notification is given to the second player). Once the first player finds the second player the objective is updated.

The player has the ability to crouch to hide behind objects to break line of sight with the Alien, to which the player can then covertly peak over or lean around to gain view. Throughout the majority of the game, the player does no have access to weapons to fight the Alien, and instead is only given a flashlight and a motion tracker to detect the monsters movement, however using these creates light and nose that increases the chance of the player being found by the Alien.
