Halo 5: Guardians might be coming to PC

A product update, or rather, a new box art update by Amazon could indicate that Master Chief might be visiting PC gamers again. The previous Halo game that was playable on PC was Halo 2 (developed by Hired Gun and Microsoft Studios), and it released more than a decade ago.

As you can see in the above image, Amazon's previous Halo 5: Guardians box art stated "Only on Xbox One," and the new box art on the left side states "Xbox One Console Exclusive." The line is stamped on the box three times! Usually, when a game is a "console exclusive" it indicates that it could release on other platforms - just not on PlayStation.

Given Microsoft's strong Play Anywhere initiative; that releases all games under that banner for both PC and Xbox One, there is a strong possibility that Halo 5 might release on PC. Play Anywhere released on 13 September 2016, so Halo 5: Guardians missed being included by about eleven months.

Halo Wars 2 also released on PC, but it is a real-time strategy game and not the one we've been waiting to play on PC. We want to play as Master Chief in a campaign. I played Halo 2 back in 2007, and it was a fantastic experience and one of the most enjoyable games I have ever played. Playing Halo 5: Guardians with updated graphics would be a dream.

Microsoft has yet to make an official announcement, and according to Ars Technica that spotted the update, they have yet to get a response about the change.

If not Halo 5, then PC gamers will have to wait for Halo: Infinite to climb into Master Chief's boots again. There are currently over 50 games available as Play Anywhere titles, and Halo: Infinite is listed as upcoming.
