The Bot International's Main Event kicks off this weekend

Dota2.jpg

Last month we reported about a Dota 2 tournament born from memes and the need to see AI fight it out for glory. The Bot International is now underway and this weekend, the epic finals main event finals will take place, where one bot will lift no trophy and claim a massive $0 prize pool.

The Bot International has been quite fun to watch so far as the group stages kicked off a few days ago. It’s entertaining, especially with all the talented casters and panellists, as well as a quality tournament production by Beyond the Summit (BTS). Best of all you can make fantasy predictions and compete with others on the leaderboard, honing those prediction skills for The International 2018 and the awesome Fantasy Challenge.

No, this is not the Open AI Five set to compete at The International 2018, but instead, it’s easy bots that are fighting for our amusement. You can catch all the matches on the BTS Twitch.tv channel and the group stages are underway right now.

For those who just want to watch the main event, check out the local times and dates below:

  • Main Event Day 1: Saturday, 14 July 2018 at 21:00 SA time
  • Main Event Day 2: Sunday, 15 July 2018 at 21:00 SA time

I mentioned earlier that there are some talented casters and panellists who bring you all the action live. These panellists and casters for the Main Event are:

  • Host: Dakota "DakotaCox" Cox
  • Panellist: Kevin "PurgeGamers" Godec
  • Panellist: Grant "GrandGrant" Harris
  • Panellist: David "GoDz" Parker
  • Panellist: Austin "Capitalist" Walsh
  • Special appearances by: David "LD" Gorman, Commissioner David "Blaze" Dillon & others!

The Main Event will have a single elimination format up until the final 16, while a double elimination format will be used after the final 16. All matches will be a best-of-three affair, with the following set of rules:

  • Skill builds will be most commonly skilled but with custom logic (i.e. no CM aura, or Lich Sacrifice, since it's one teamfight)
  • Talents will be chosen by most popular, with custom logic (i.e. no XP or GPM talents since it's one teamfight)
  • Talents will be 7.07 talents (more recent talents bug out the bots)
  • Black King Bar cannot be purchased

This is because they are, of course, easy bots and we want to all see a fair fight while we eat our popcorn and make fantasy predictions.

Watch The Bot International’s trailer below and tell us if you will be watching the event and participating in the fantasy league in the comment section below.
