Skyrim is now playable on a smart toilet

According to the Terminator film lore, Skynet initiated its attack on humanity on 25 July 2004. It looks like the film might have been six years off, and I, for one, want to welcome our new AI overlords.

In case you were wondering, the title isn’t some kind of joke. You can now play The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim no a smart toilet. Bethesda’s movement to get the game on every platform possible will likely be the end of us all.

At Bethesda’s E3 Press Conference, the Skyrim: Very Special Edition for Amazon’s Alexa, I thought it had to be some kind of joke, but it turns out that the edition of Skyrim was very real and gamers can play it using an Amazon Echo device or by using the Amazon Alexa app on Android or iOS devices.

All this leads up to the ability to play Skyrim on a smart toilet as discussed in this Reddit thread. You see, Kohler unveiled a new Numi smart toilet earlier this year and this high-tech bathroom device is compatible with Amazon’s Alexa technology to perform various tasks such as flushing and lifting the toilet seat via voice commands or even playing music from its built-in speakers.

Since Skyrim: Very Special Edition can be played via an Amazon Alexa compatible device, this means that you can flush twice to use a Dragonshout, in theory. Having this essential piece of equipment in your bathroom will come at a cost, however, as the new Numi smart toilet sells for over $6,000, which is roughly R81,000.

That’s pushing it a bit too far if you ask me and I have to wonder just how big of a smile Bethesda’s Pete Hines and Todd Howard have on their faces right now, as the whole idea of the Skyrim: Very Special Edition started off as a joke but grew into something more over time. The sky is the limit for Skyrim, as Amazon’s Alexa could be ported into basically any smart device in the future, probably even toasters.

Is playing Skyrim on a smart toilet going one step too far? Let us know in the comment section below.
