MWEB hands over Gamezone to GeekXP with a bright future in local gaming

MWEB today announced that it is focusing its efforts on the gaming community on events and online network experience. In order to do this, it is handing over the Gamezone website and associated content, media and entertainment to GeekXP.

This allows MWEB to focus on its support of the gaming community, ensuring that gamers on the MWEB network enjoy the best possible online gaming experience, by continuing to prioritise gaming traffic on the network and hosting a number of gaming servers and gaming events in the popular M-Cave. GeekXP brings a wealth of gaming community experience and will continue to deliver the engaging content and entertainment that the Gamezone community has enjoyed in the past.

Les Allen, the owner of GeekXP, wanted to give back to a community that he'd long been a part of, with the creation of GeekXP Promotions. GeekXP's mission is to provide local pop culture fans access to exclusive content and experiences that they would otherwise struggle to get access to. In 2015, Les joined the team behind ICON Comics & Games Convention, helping to take this favourite event to the next level with international pop culture guests and live streaming panels - both firsts in the South African market.

MWEB is excited to work closely with GeekXP, ensuring that gamers on the MWEB network enjoy the best possible gaming experience. The Gamezone brand, portal and all social media pages will be transferred to GeekXP on 01 July 2018.
