Dota 2: The International 2018 Open Qualifiers kick off today

Can you feel that? The International 2018 is fast approaching and it is the most exciting time for Dota 2 fans across the globe. The Pro Circuit for the 2017/2018 season finished up last weekend with the China Dota 2 Major, as the Pro Circuit ended just as it begun, with Team Liquid lifting a trophy.

Now, it’s time for The International 2018’s Open Qualifiers to begin, followed by the regional qualifiers. Teams will fight it out for a total of 10 spots left. Before we get to the Open Qualifiers, check out the teams who direct invite to The International 2018 via DCP rankings.

  • Virtus.Pro
  • Team Liquid
  • Team Secret
  • Mineski
  • ViCi Gaming
  • Newbee
  • VGJ.Thunder

Virtus.Pro (or should I say Virtus Plow) are the overwhelming leaders of the 2017/2018 Pro Circuit, with The International 2017 champions Team Liquid in a distant second place.

Now, let’s take a look at the Open Qualifiers and where you can watch all the action.

Open Qualifiers

There are some top teams in the Open Qualifiers, most noticeably Evil Geniuses and Alliance. Top performing teams in the Open Qualifiers will even advance to the Regional Qualifiers, so it is definitely a long road ahead. The Open Qualifiers kick off today and until Sunday, 17 June 2018.

Afterwards, the Regional Qualifiers will kick off on 18 June and run until 25 June, at which point we will know exactly which teams will participate in The International 2018.

You can watch the matches via the Dota 2 client, or if you prefer Twitch, you can tune in to the Beyond The Summit TI8 open qualifier hub’s 24/7 stream. Check out the time for the Open Qualifiers according to the region below.

  • South-East Asia: 09:00 SA time
  • CIS: 14:00 SA time
  • Europe: 16:00 SA time
  • South America: 21:00 SA time
  • North America: 22:00 SA time
