God of War is getting its most fan-requested feature

God of War is one of the best games I’ve ever played. It is an absolute masterpiece and I wish I could just live in the world forever. For those of you who’ve completed the game and maybe even the “Give me God of War” difficulty, there should, unfortunately, not be much left to do.

If you’ve finished the game, then I have one question for you: Are you ready for New Game+, boy?

That’s right, developer Santa Monica Studio is working on a New Game+ mode for God of War and I couldn’t be more excited. The developer revealed this news at E3 and noted that a New Game+ mode is the most requested feature from fans, so they are creating one for players to enjoy.

The New Game+ update will, of course, be free. You will be able to keep your upgrades (because who wants to lose a fully upgraded Leviathan Axe) and armour to start the New Game+ mode, but you will, of course, first need to finish the game to gain access to this mode.

Santa Monica Studio talks about the New Game+ mode on the PlayStation Blog:

"Have you ever imagined that first test of strength defying battle with Baldur while adorning the Valkyrie Armor on Kratos? You can with New Game+. How about a fully upgraded Leviathan Axe at the start of the game? That will also be possible, and quite frankly, you may need it, New Game+ won’t just be a sunny stroll through Midgard.

In New Game+, you’ll start a new game with many upgrades you had from the completion of your last main quest, such as armors, pommels, talismans, and more…except your strength to open or kick down doors remains the same." - Source

The “Give me God of War” difficulty is already so challenging, but if you can keep your armour and weapon upgrades, the New Game+ mode should be even harder. I just hope there are even better items to find and progress even further with Kratos in the New Game+ mode. There should be, but the details haven’t been confirmed just yet.

While we all patiently wait for the New Game+ update to arrive, why not check out what the game’s opening hour is like on the current highest difficulty level below, then tell us what you think a New Game+ mode coming to the game.
