The Sinking City release date, new trailer and screenshots revealed

For anyone who’s a fan of H.P. Lovecraft or even horror games in general, The Sinking City looks to be a must-play. Developed by Frogwares, The Sinking City is an open-world horror investigative game set in the Lovecraft universe and from everything we’ve seen so far, it definitely has that distinct Lovecraftian feel about it.

That’s why we are so excited about the game and during E3, a release date has been revealed. The Eldritch horrors are awakening on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on 21 March 2019 and I, for one, am equal parts terrified and excited.

The Sinking City will also be quite a meaty experience as the game will reportedly last 30 to 40 hours if you do the main story and most of the side activities but could last much longer for the completionists out there.

The Sinking City is an open world, action investigation game set in a Lovecraft universe. The player steps into the shoes of a private investigator Charles Reed who finds himself trapped in 1920’s Oakmont Massachusetts - a city suffering from unprecedented floods of supernatural origins. The player must uncover the source of whatever has taken possession of the city, and the minds of its inhabitants.

Those attending E3 can “catch a glimpse of the madness” as the game will be on show, for the rest of us, check out the E3 trailer below.

The game looks like it will be a mind-bending experience and we all know that somewhere, tentacled horrors awaits…and we can’t wait to run away from them.

The Sinking City Screenshots

The new batch of screenshots released show off some eerie environments that the player will be able to explore as well as insanely creepy monsters, one even seems to be ripping apart its own head and the small one is known as a “creeper” as revealed by the screenshots name in the press release.

It is unclear exactly how investigative work will play out mechanics wise in The Sinking City but knowing Frogwares it should be great, as they are responsible for the Sherlock Holmes games. It looks like you will be finding clues scattered throughout the world, talk to NPCs to gather more information and more.

It won’t just be an investigation game either, as you will, of course, engage in combat with the horrifying creatures and we know there will be a shotgun to use as per a screenshot in it above.
