If you have been following our social media channels over the past few days you would know that we have been in New York City at the annual Acer Global Press Conference. It is the day where the tech giant takes to the stage to show off all its brand new hardware coming your way in the next few months. This year, more than ever, Acer showed that they have paved their way to a stronger and more accessible gaming hardware range than ever before. We have played with the devices, sat in the gaming chair and this is everything you need to know about the cool new hardware.

Check out all the awesome gaming devices and accessories below

Acer Predator Helios 300

Probably the best announcement from the show was the Acer Predator Helios 300. Why? Because Acer announced a beautiful white version of the laptop. Coming in a limited edition gold and white variant, the Helios 300 is the mid-range gaming notebook that packs the following:

  • 15-inch 144Hz FHD display
  • Intel Core-i7-8750H or Intel Core-i5-8200H
  • 16GB of DDR4 RAM upgradable to 32GB
  • NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB DDR5 VRAM
  • 512GB SSD
  • 1TB or 2TB HDD

The Helios 300 is sexy and that is the only word to describe it. Its white shell looks awesome and the gold trim throughout the device adds a new level of premium feel to it that is not found in any other Predator devices.

The next model up is the new Acer Predator Helios 500. This is the top of the range gaming device with the new Intel Core-i9 CPUs. The device boasts a GTX 1070 with 8GB of DDR5 RAM and 16GB of system RAM. The real selling point here is the combination of the powerful GTX 1070 and the new Core-i9 processor. It the first gaming laptop to pack the new Intel Core-i9 and i9+.

Take a look at the Helios 500 in action below

  • 17.3-inch FHD (or UHD) 144HZ display
  • 8th Gen Intel Core-i9 + 8950HK | 8th Gen Intel Core-i9 8950HK | 8th Gen Intel Core-i7 8750H | 8th Gen Intel Core-i5 8300H
  • 16GB DDR4 RAM
  • NVIDIA GTX 1070 8GB DDR5 VRAM
  • 1TB SSD | 512 SSD
  • 1TB or 2TB HDD

Acer Predator Orion 5000

If gaming laptops are not your thing then perhaps you want a tower? While we cannot confirm yet if the Orion 5000 will release in SA, we can share the device's specs. Acer went a step further this year with their dedicated gaming box and the Orion 5000 is a beast. It looks amazing in person and packs a future-proof hardware lineup to boast.

  • 8th Gen Intel Core-i7+ 8700 | 8th Gen Intel Core-i5 8400
  • Up to 64GB of Dual channel DDR4 2666 MHz RAM with up to 32GB support for Intel Optane Memory
  • 2x NVIDIA GTX 1080 SLI
  • Predator Lighting case
  • 512GB SSD
  • Up to 3TB HDD

As you can see the three big reveals cater for all sorts of gamers out there. The Helio 500, in particular, will make sure to offer a high-end gaming experience on the go while the Helio 300 (my favourite one) will make sure to fit the budget if you are in the market for something new. We will have full local pricing and availability for these devices as soon as possible.

Acer also announced a new range of accessories. The new Cestus 510 gaming mouse is fully customizable with a 16,00 DPI and of course 16.8 million RGB patterns. The mouse has all sorts of detachable parts that you can switch out for more comfort and if you prefer holding your mouse in a specific way depending on your game then it will suit you just fine. Acer will also be releasing a Predator gaming chair that looks like your usual racing chair but has the Predator branding all over it.
