The Microsoft Store is currently listing Fallout 4 as "Free to Play: Fallout 4. While we are not sure if this is an error or Bethesda has released a free-to-play version of the game, it is free for now so best grab it while you can.

Update: Bethesda finally cleared up the mystery - Fallout 4 is available to play for free on Xbox One  - for this weekend. "Scavenging for a good deal? Look no further! This weekend, all Xbox One owners can dive into the Commonwealth without dropping a single cap during the Fallout 4 Free Weekend event!" announces Bethesda. The free weekend ends on May 17, Midnight PST Monday, May 21.

Fallout 4 is, of course, Xbox One X enhanced, and supports 4K Ultra HD. You'll need 45,54 GB hard drive space to download the game. I've checked both Steam and the PlayStation Store, and at the time of writing, there were no "Fallout 4 free" offers. You can, however, purchase the game at discounted prices for PlayStation 4.

Fallout 4 released in November 2015 and won our Game Of The Year award. It received favourable reviews from fans and critics alike, with some praising it as "an open world masterpiece." In Fallout 4 you play as the sole survivor of Vault 111, and you once again take on the Wasteland (that is bigger than ever before), in the hopes of surviving its inhabitants, nature, and monsters. You'll spend many, many hours rebuilding your life in the massive open world of Fallout 4. At least you're again, so very S.P.E.C.I.A.L. with the VATS system to help you survive combat. Building and modding again play a major role in Fallout 4.
