Gearbox confirms Borderlands 3 will not be at E3 2018

Borderlands 3 is happening, we know that but when and where will we see it? We were all hoping that the game would make its debut at E3 2018 but it seems that is not the case. We know the entire Gearbox Software team is working on the game after abandoning Battleborn in mid-2017 to focus their efforts on the anticipated sequel. With E3 a month away you would think that it would be the best place to show the game off but it seems that is not the case.

In a series of tweets by Randy Pitchford, the CEO of Gearbox Software and the man behind Borderlands, he basically confirmed that E3 2018 will be Borderlands 3-less. While he went on about a magic-related metaphor for some time before actually getting to the point, we kind of get what he is saying.

I *love* how important Borderlands is to so many of you. The developers of Gearbox Software are working harder than we have ever worked in order to create new and exciting things in hopes of entertaining you. Your passion fuels us. Thank you! I love you!

In a nutshell, the tweets laid down the idea that they will not be showing the game at E3 in fear that people may believe that it is ready and will be out as soon as possible and that is not the case. He would hate the game to turn out to be the next Half-Life 3 in terms of delays and speculation so they will only announce Borderlands 3 when they feel it is ready for gamer consumption.

Randy goes on to state that whether or not he says the game will be at the show is pointless as people will still choose to believe what they want to believe. In the end, he thanked the fans for showing love for the series and assured us that Gearbox Software is working harder than they have ever worked in order to bring the game to life.

In a nutshell, Borderlands 3 will not be at E3 2018 but then again believe what you want. I do think that we could still see a teaser regardless of it being on display in any way, shape or form. Being on show at E3 and being teased at E3 are two different things and Randy could be referring to the game not being an actual playable title right now. We will have to wait and see what the week has planned for us.

Do you think there is still a chance of Borderlands 3 being teased at the show? Let us know in the comments below.
