Dota 2: A small update nerfs strength-based heroes

Dota 2 Str.jpg

With the new Dota 2 update plans firmly in place, Valve has continued to tinker with a lot of systems and heroes every other week. Last week, they released an update that saw the primary attribute of a hero (strength, intelligence or agility) providing 25% more benefit to the bonuses it provides, alongside a host of other changes, most notably to buildings, for example, bounty gold from towers being reduced and a lot more.

Over the weekend, it looks like Valve decided that strength-based heroes might be a bit too strong with the exception of a few here and there and in a small yet impactful update (7.13b) have nerfed most strength heroes. The biggest nerf, in my opinion, comes from a movement speed reduction affecting all strength-based heroes, as the base movement speed has been reduced by 5.

Then, with the exception of a few heroes, the armour of strength-based heroes has also been introduced. The update also gives some love to intelligence-based heroes with the exception of 3, which sees their base strength increased by 2. Lastly, there is also an increased strength gain for several intelligence and agility-based heroes.

Check out the full list of changes from update 7.13b below:

  • "Strength heroes base movement speed reduced by 5
  • Strength heroes base armor reduced by 1 (except Doom, Io, Lycan, Phoenix, Timbersaw, Tiny)
  • Intelligence heroes base strength increased by 2 (Except OD, Tinker and Bane)
  • Strength gain for the following heroes increased by 0.3: Dark Seer, Death Prophet, Ember Spirit, Leshrac, Nature's Prophet, Necrophos, Pugna, Queen of Pain, Ursa and Visage" - Source

Keep in mind that all these changes together, including buffs to other heroes, might be quite impactful for strength heroes and as mentioned earlier, that movement speed decrease, although it seems small, could definitely be something to look out for.
