SEGA has been teasing the announcement of something "very special" and "huge" during SEGA FEST 2018, and now we finally know what that is - Shenmue I and II will launch as a single package later this year for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Both games will include Japanese and English voice overs, with the choice of playing it with classic or modern controls.

"This is the definitive version of these all-time classics and will be the best Shenmue experience to date," announces SEGA. "The re-release will stay true to the originals with modernised features including fully scalable screen resolution, choice of modern or classic control schemes, PC graphics options, an updated user interface and the option to enjoy either the original Japanese or English voiceovers."

The PC version will release via Steam, and will have fully scalable screen resolutions, and an updated user interface. The original Shenmue released in 2000 for the Dreamcast, and will debut on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox with the remake later this year. It was considered to be a pioneer for many current gameplay mechanics. These include open-world exploration, the quick time event, and the depth and detail of its game world and inhabitants.

Shenmue I tells the story of Ryo Hazuki who witness the murder of his father, a jujitsu master. The motive of the murder was the theft of an artifact called the Dragon Mirror. Hazuki vows to revenge the murder, and the first game begins where he follows a series of clues around Yokosuka, Japan. In Shenmue II, Hazuki continues on his path of revenge as he crosses over to Hong Kong, China. He gets pulled deeper into the Chinese criminal underworld, but he is also aided by several martial arts masters.

The Steam page for Shenmue I and II is already live, with PlayStation and Xbox to follow. You can check out the announcement trailer below, just keep in mind it is footage of a work in progress.
