Con.ect 2018 announced - Port Elizabeth's Geek Convention returns this year

In September last year, I made my way to Con.ect, Port Elizabeth’s annual Geek Convention and I was pleasantly surprised with what I found. In Port Elizabeth, there aren't many ways to really let your geek out and I didn’t know what to expect, but the whole experience turned out to be a smooth and amazing ride.

There were some great stalls featuring gaming merchandise and everything else you can think of, from a Game of Thrones “hand of the king” pin which I picked up, to a Dota 2 ring which I also purchased. I ended up spending quite a lot of money and walking away with a tonne of awesome swag. That’s why I am so extremely to head back to Con.ect 2018, which was recently announced.

The event will take place at the Nelson Mandela University Vodacom Indoor Sport Centre this year, which is a bigger venue than what they had last year. This year, Con.ect be on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 August 2018 and I am sure the wait will be well worth it.

There will be a LAN event for those who want to come and play some games, but more information about the LAN will only be revealed closer to the event.

Con.ect tickets will be sold at the door with the following prices:

  • Saturday and Sunday Day Passes – R50
  • Weekend Passes – R80
  • Children under six years enter for free

Con.ect is once again teaming up with Sector 17 Esports and Roland Gaspar will be the host of the show. Last year, Mr Gaspar did an amazing job and I almost spilt my drink laughing at some of his jokes, so it is definitely something to look forward to. At the moment we don’t have further details to share as the organizers are still in the planning phase, but if last year is anything to go by, then it will be an event in Port Elizabeth not to be missed.

When more information becomes available, I will be sure to let our readers know and I will also be covering the event later this year, maybe I might even run into some of you. In the meantime, check out the event’s Facebook page and while you are at it, why not take a look at Sector 17 Esports and Roland Gaspar.
