Sony announces limited edition God of War PS4 Pro console - reveals 4K enhancements

Take all my money, Sony! Just take it all! Last night Sony announced something pretty cool, and if anything it is probably the best-looking limited edition console they have ever made. To celebrate the upcoming God of War release, Sony has designed a rather sexy PS4 Pro console that will release on 20 April 2018 along with the launch of the much-anticipated God of War.

The console has been inspired by the design of Kratos' Axe and will come with a matching DualShock 4. On the front of the console, you will see some etched patterns as well as the haft that has some rather petty designs on it too. The blade part of the axe is gold and it follows through from the bottom of the blade onto the middle of the PS4 Pro's sandwich-like design.

The patterns on the front of the console are the same as the one on Kratos' axe which makes it a true tribute to the game. This pattern is actually the skill tree that you will use to advance Kratos' abilities. At the top right corner, you have a gold PlayStation logo that is sure to catch your eye. As for the front, each symbol represents a realm in the game which kind of gives us some insight into all the awesome locations we will visit.

“When we designed Kratos’ new Leviathan Axe, we knew it would have far more meaning not only to the game, but to our fans. Santa Monica Studios was extremely proud to adorn the custom PS4 Pro with the Leviathan Axe in such detailed fashion. We spent a painstaking amount of time to ensure this PS4 Pro was special, for the special fans who will cherish it.

As for the PS4 Pro 4K enhancements, there is no doubt that Sony is pushing the console to the limit and we will probably see the same polish we saw in last year's Horizon Zero Dawn. According to the PlayStation Blog, God of War will run at 2160p and support HDR and wide colour gamut. Of course, you will need a 4K HDR TV to see this beauty in motion.

Update: The beautiful bundle is now open for pre-order in South Africa and it will set you back R7,499.
