GTA VI rumoured details include location, a female lead and more

Before we even get started, let me just remind you to take rumours like this one with a large helping of salt until such time as Rockstar Games officially reveals the next game in the Grand Theft Auto franchise.

To put it mildly, GTA V has seen tremendous success since its release in 2013. Therefore, GTA VI is inevitable in my opinion and rumours about the game being in development did float around last year. Now, a new rumour has emerged and it comes from The Know in their latest video which you can view at the bottom of this article.

The Know cites an “inside source” for the information in the video and claims that GTA VI is internally referred to as Project Americas over at Rockstar Games. The game will reportedly be set around Miami and could be in the fictional Vice City in the GTA universe. However, players will also travel to South America for missions. It is unclear whether or not the game will feature Tommy Vercetti, the protagonist of GTA: Vice City which played off in 1986.

According to the rumour, for the first time ever in the GTA franchise, GTA VI will feature a female character as one of the leads, which also suggest that there will again be multiple lead characters. There is even some rumoured information about how far along the development of the game is, as The Know notes GTA VI is at least 3 to 4 years away, which could mean a release somewhere in 2022.

With a release so far away, we probably won’t hear anything concrete about the game in quite awhile and I suspect Rockstar will first release Red Dead Redemption 2 before even thinking about teasing something about GTA VI.

Whatever the case may be, please do remember to take a rumour like this one for what it is, a rumour.

Watch the video from The Know below and then tell us what you think about this rumour and the details revealed.
