Stardew Valley creator reveals details about new game Spellbound

Stardew Valley is probably one of the greatest and most addictive games of this generation. It is also a very popular game that puts a spin on the farming simulator genre with its quirky, classic art style and its town management system. If you have played Stardew Valley you would know just how great it is. With that being said, it is past its prime and while we are waiting for the multiplayer mode to release soon, Chucklefish's founder Finn Brice has spilt the details on the next game from the publisher titled Spellbound.

Speaking to Red Bull Games about the upcoming title, the game sounds like it is going to be a Harry Potter-like Stardew Valley with a much deeper personality system as well as a more detailed combat system too. It will feature a Zelda-like retro action combat system with spellcasting instead of swords and bows. Characters will have their own goals and personalities and the new character relationship system could even see the player get dumped by their intimate partner. The game will also feature major replayability thanks to the story, characters and overall gameplay all being so unique in its own way. The game will also be set on the same planet as Stardew Valley so it might hold much more than it seems when it comes to the connection between the two games.

“The game revolves around your path through school, the relationships you build, and your mastery of the several schools of magic at your disposal,” said Brice. “Players should expect to build up their magical proficiency by undertaking school projects. This might have them growing magical crops and creatures in herbology or taking on the denizens of the forest in elemental magic."

“School life is just as important as magic, however; a lot of time will be spent meeting and befriending the varied cast of characters, taking on quests, awkward attempts at dating and a host of side activities.”

So while you are fighting the Basilisk you will have to make sure your partner is happy, you are keeping that Mandragora farm clean from pixies and you are attending to your Defence against the Dark Arts class. Oh, wait. That last part is Harry Potter - my bad.

This all sounds pretty cool if you ask me. The game is currently in development for PC with no release date in sight as of yet. Would you play Spellbound? Let us know in the comments below.
