5 games you absolutely have to play this March

Games of March 2018.jpg

March is an absolutely massive month for game releases with some high-quality titles coming out. There are so many good ones this month but we’ve narrowed it down to 5 that we think you absolutely need to play. Keep in mind this is no specific order.

Take a look at the video below as we countdown 5 games not to miss this month.

Sea of Thieves

  • Release Date: 20 March 2018
  • Platforms: Xbox One, Windows 10

At number 5 we have Sea of Thieves. This game has received some really good publicity, especially during its beta phase that recently passed. The game sees you either playing solo or with some crew members as a pirate, who travels the sea, fights off their enemies and plunders treasure. Now, this could be your found treasures or that of your enemies. The game has really cool and unique gameplay mechanics that see you repairing your ship with wood planks once the hull has been damaged, eating bananas as a food source and carrying cannon balls to blow your enemies to bits.

The sailing system is unique and has a few micromanagement aspects to it, especially on the bigger ships that you get when playing with more players. One player will need to sail while the other adjusts the sail according to the wind and the other uses his telescope to look into the distance for islands to plunder. Overall this game seems really great and we can’t wait to get out hands on the full release.

Warhammer: Vermintide II

  • Release Date: 8 March 2018
  • Platform: PC (Console releasing late 2018)

Now this game certainly has me excited. I picked up the previous Vermintide later in its life cycle and I wish I got it earlier. Vermintide II is a first-person, action, RPG and survival game. It holds a lot of similarities with the Left for Dead games but with much better customization and character building. The game sees you taking on one of the 5 currently known characters that all have different strengths and subclasses to unlock and build into.

It does have a very high focus on the looting part of the game and that’s something I personally love! In this instalment of Vermintide, there will be all new enemies to destroy and weapons to find, along with new worlds of course. I don’t think I can understate how excited I am for this game and to play it with my friends. Take a look at some gameplay above of the beta that just passed.

A Way Out

  • Release Date: 23 March 2018
  • Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC

This is an exciting action adventure game that is played in the third person. This game has a really interesting gameplay mechanic as it is specifically designed to be played in co-op. The game puts you in the shoes of two convicted prisoners that have a plan to escape and get on the run. The entire game sees players playing together as a team and that’s the only way it can be done. Players must cooperate with each other in order to be successful and escape.

The roles you take on are entirely interchangeable, meaning if you want to distract the guard while your friend grabs the keys to your cell, you can and vice versa. It’s also worth mentioning that like the PlayStation 4 version of Far Cry 4, friends will be able to join your session and play with you, without them even owning the game! This is a pretty cool feature in my opinion and will allow you to progress in the game without your friends having to purchase it.

Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom

  • Release Date: 23 March 2018
  • Platforms: PS4, PC

Ni No Kuni II is the highly anticipated sequel to the PS3 exclusive released in 2010. The game takes place right after the events of the original and follows the story of Even Pettiwhisker Tildrum, a young king who is usurped from his castle and sets out on a journey to reclaim the kingdom.

The game features an all-new combat system that is different from the first game as it no longer relies on Familiars to fight. Instead, players will be able to recruit Higgledies which are tiny creatures that have the power to cast spells. As the player progresses through the game they will be able to build their own kingdom, recruit armies and get stronger all in an attempt to take back what was rightfully theirs.

Expect all the charm from the original game thanks to the breathtaking soundtrack and gorgeous anime-styled art style. The open world is bigger, the characters are even more diverse and of course, the bad guys are even more villainous.

Far Cry 5

  • Release Date: 27 March 2018
  • Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC

Everybody knows the Far Cry series and if you don’t here’s a little summary. Crazy stuff happens and things blow up. It’s pretty awesome! And I’m pretty sure Far Cry 5 isn’t gonna be any different. Set in a fictional City in America that's been somewhat brained washed by their religion, players are exposed to all types of fanatics and crazies.

Of course, no Far Cry game will be complete without a somewhat decent storyline and some awesome guns. This game has created some controversy with its extremist characters, but I guess that’s just free publicity. The game is highly anticipated and for good reason. You will be able to play the entire campaign in co-op and if you’re a solo player, the AI will take the place of your long lost friend. Far Cry 5 is going to be awesome and if you miss it then shame on you.
