Fortnite Battle Royale's Solid Gold Limited Time Mode is now live

Last week, Epic Games’ Fortnite entered Season 3, accompanied by a new Battle Pass and a massive update (v.3.0.0) which included building improvements and much more. The game has seen tremendous success due to it’s Battle Royale mode, breaking past the 20 million players mark a couple of months ago.

The developer isn’t slowing down after the update and the start of Season 3, as the first limited-time mode of the season is now live for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. It is called the Solid Gold event and it will only last a few days. The theme of the Solid Gold event is Legendary weapons.

Every weapon that players find on the map or in a chest will be of Legendary variety, including the recently released Hand Cannon. The mode is only available while playing in a squad, so grab some friends and start killing other players in the game with shiny legendary weapons! In a short but oh-so-sweet Tweet, developer Epic Games revealed that the Limited Time mode is now live for all players to enjoy, stating that:

This is only the beginning of a great time ahead for Fortnite Battle Royale players, as the developer explained earlier this month that they plan on adding a lot more of these events to the game with five in the next month or so.

We’ve been hammering away at Limited Time Modes! Getting you multiple playlists (solo, duo and squads) during LTMs is at the top of the priority stack. We’ve been using multiple data points (including your feedback) to iterate our existing LTM’s and to build brand new LTM’s. We are planning to quickly spin up a dozen or so LTMs, some of these may be more straightforward (e.g. along the lines of Sniper Shootout, Sneaky Silencer etc.). We also use LTMs to test new Shooting Models. From there, we want to make internal improvements so we can introduce more involved LTMs (e.g. “floor is lava”).” - Source

One of these the developer mentioned was a new version of the 50 versus 50 mode Version 2 and you might recall that in December last year it was introduced for a brief period.

At the time of writing, Epic Games didn’t indicate exactly when the event will end or when the next one will start, but hopefully, it will last long enough for everyone to experience this one because it does sound like a whole lot of fun.
