NVIDIA claims new GPU drivers boost PUBG performance by 7 percent

We all know that no matter what PC you have and how much money you have spent on it, PUBG can still be an underwhelming experience when it comes to performance in the game. Mainly due it being very unoptimized, the game suffers from same nasty stuttering issues, frame rate drops and overall glitches. Well, NVIDIA promises to make the experience a little better in the new WHQL drivers released for GeForce GPUs.

Driver 391.01 will not only add optimization for Final Fantasy XV, Warhammer: Vermintide 2 and World of Tanks but also increase the performance of PUBG by up to 7% depending on the GPU you have.

According to stats released by NVIDIA, all users will see a small boost right from the GeForce GTX 1050 all the way to the GTX 1080 Ti. The biggest performance boosts is seen on the GTX 1080 with a 3% and 7% increase at 1080p, 1440p and 4K. Keep in mind that these boosts were based on benchmarks done by NVIDIA themselves. Unfortunately, there is no detailed breakdown on older GPUs such as the GTX 980 and 970.

Other than PUBG, the new drivers will fix a few other issues across a few games.

  • [BeamNG]: Dynamic reflections flicker in the game.
  • [Call of Duty WWII]: Flickering shadows occur in the game.
  • NvfbcPluginWindow prevents Windows from shutting down.
  • Booting from a cold boot results in black screen on a multi-monitor system.
  • [3DVision]: System shutdown time increases when Stereoscopic 3D is enabled.
  • [Nvidia Control Panel]: The Display->Adjust desktop colour settings->Content typesetting is reset to “Auto-selected” after rebooting the system.
  • [GeForce GTX 980/1080 Ti]: OpenGL program may crash when trying to map a buffer object.
  • [Notebook][GeForce GTX 965M]: Drop in GPU performance occurs.

You can grab the drivers right now from the official site or update your GPU through the NVIDIA GeForce Experience App.
